Location: Kanjurmarg, Mumbai Typology: Podium Park Site Area: 4 Hectares Architect: Ar. Prabhakar Bhagwat Kanjurmarg is an urban landscape project. This area houses both commercial & residential blocks. The landscape is designed in such a way that it looks whole even when it is separated by design for either of the complexes. It is spread across an area of 4 hectares. In this project, we learn that the loading of soil also affects the growth of the vegetation and landscape around in different ways. This method has been adopted to cater to the different functions of the complex according to the user space. The green belt has pockets of different courts and play areas along with pools, pathways, jogging, and cycling tracks cut through these spaces interestingly. Site Details

The image of the landscape reflects the various design elements like line, geometry, shape, colour and texture. Its changing colours attracts people. It creates curiosity, fantasy, and fun, due to slow colour changes it becomes comfortable for people and is more like natural. Creates the effect of Variety, randomness, Bands, repetition along with the sustainability. It follows Random Geometric pattern which indicated the place is for public use, On the other side more formal pattern is seen, which indicated the boundaries of institutional buildings. Unlike other spaces designed to create experiences only when one is within them, these are spaces designed for perspective; they allow for images to be created when seen from a height. In so doing, clarity is offered on utilization of space, along with a sense of uniformity within the dissimilar; visual boundaries become non-existent. Reflects the feeling of cheerfulness and freshness to the visitor. Landscaping Elements used: Plantation, pathways, Watch towers, Patches, Lighting, Paving, and Slides. Gestalt Principles Included: Proximity, Continuity, Closure, Similarity, Figure and Ground, Common Fate, Surroundings. The texture of the planting is a response to the use of space, and the depth of soil. This has differentiated the planting in the residential, and commercial areas.

The precise craftsmanship, which has provided the space a sense of identity, is evident in not just the stone and metal work, but also in the earth sculpting, and landscapes.

The program of this space includes pools, play-courts, cycling and jogging tracks, and an open air theatre. Thin walkways traverse the central garden

This image describes the formal planning of the pool followed by the geometry of the existing landscape of the area. Pathways leading towards the swimming pools are surrounded by the short planters blocking the direct view to the pool. The landscape near the pool area is surrounded by large palm clusters to Achieve privacy in the pool area or provide shade or barrier for private residential pools. No matter how close neighbors are, the thick greenery will make the swimming hole feel remote. The Water features turn this pool into a giant fountain. The sound of flowing water will add an element of relaxation to the area around the pool and mask any unwanted noises. Also, this pool is accented with water feature with lighting so that it becomes a focal point at night. Material that is used in this space are Smooth finished tiles near the swimming pool along with grey pathway tiles and Reinforced concrete pavements.

MATERIALS Pathways are made up of concrete white and grey gravels along with finishing materials are used as porcelain tiles ,grid coating and RCC elements.


Anna Wintour’s House Location: Shisen-do in Kyoto, Rousham in Oxfordshire, England Typology: Farm House Site Area: 40 acres Architect: Ar. Miranda Brooks The Property of the Miranda brooks is situated near the old town in Hampton. The project generally covers the farmhouse of Anna Wintours along with portion of Miranda brooks property. The boundaries are spread over the area of 40 acres cultivated over the last 20 years by the friend of Miranda brooks. It includes the various Cottages, butterfly garden, meadows, shadow garden and pools. Structural features of a garden resemble the 18th-century residence's stone façade.

The image shows the snow layer covers the pathways completely but the guarded lines of the horn beam hedge defines the boundary lines and guides our path. Still reflects the various principles of landscape design but the colour changes the mood setting of the viewer. Due to the major portion of white, grey and brown it sense the feeling of peacefulness and quietness. A gravel walkway along with hedges and shrubbery is barely visible and trees create the very dramatic scene to the viewer, reflects the sense of unearthly and spooky place. Clearly defines the boundaries of the various elements of the landscape. Green Surroundings now reflects the feeling of sheltered, safe and restful. Overgrown grasses with the cluster of horn beam hedges. Everything looks natural along with the stone wall in the background increases the Beauty of the scene. Brook’s aesthetic combines structure and wildness to dazzling effect, as seen on the grounds of Anna Wintour's Long Island home The designer reimagined the land around architect Daniel Romualdez's Connecticut home to make room for an expansive lawn, boxwood garden, and hornbeam hedge. Near the house, clipped boxwood and a mown lawn meet one of many paths through long meadow grass, a signature of Brook's designs
