Why? What does it feel like to have Anorexia Nervosa? (GQ) How?
Time
How will I guide my classmates to experience these feelings? I will create a Choose Your Own Adventure game and each of the options is a description of what an anorexic is feeling. The students will walk through the game, making choices that lead them to feel like they are fat or not hungry. The game will also make them feel like what is like to have anorexia. After that, I will ask them how they felt while playing the game.
What?
How will I guide my classmates to experience these feelings?
I will tell my classmates about what my disease is. I will then tell them what Agenda they are going to do and how it relates to my disease, which is Anorexia Nervosa. The Choose Your Adventure Game should take about 4-5 minutes. & After the game is over, I will have them think about what it is like to have Content Anorexia Nervosa based on what the game choices are. After about 1-2 minutes, I will show them a table based on the differences between a typical person and an anorexic person. If you see an anorexic, you should never say: 1. Is that all you’re eating? 2. Being super-skinny isn’t attractive anyway. 3. Why can’t you eat like a normal person. Things you can say to an anorexic are: 1. Ask them if they are feeling ok. 2. I am worried about you. 3. What can I do for you?
