PAYUNGAN is an integrated food court which located in the corner of ITC fatmawati intersection. Its design was created through analysis on the wartegs / warung tegal (food stalls) on the existing site which resulted in some foundings; users and sellers behave based on their laziness and insecurities. This project approachs those behaviors by treating them as potentials; to create an effective architecture by choreographing the laziness and insecurities of the users and the sellers. Those can be achieved spatially through visual proximity, physical proximity, and a paradoxical space of openness and closures.
the ‘umbrellas’ (payung)
act as blockades and protection against the weather
round plan
facing every directions creating visual proximity open view enabling user to look at surroundings & watch over their motorbikes creating visual “closeness” to the people outside
the ‘hole’
acts as an integrated service area & open space for doing activities like grilling
the roundabout
accessibility for motorbike riders
multiple pedestrian entrances accessibility from every directions to create physical closeness
located in the center of the circle ( smallest radius ), making it accessible for seller to do things quickly
motorbikes pedestrian
visual proximity (customer)
physical proximity (customer)
physical proximity (seller)
Analysis
Evidence using motorbikes
instead of walking in spite of the proximity of the destination faster creating the illusion that the distance is shorter than it actually is lazy to walk hot weather
littering
right in front of the warungs
due to the absence of proper disposal place nearby the need to be able to dispose trash quick and easily
parking on the pavements
right in the front of the warungs
due to the absence of parking space nearby the need to watch over their parked vehicles and protect them from hot weather & rain

KERETEK HAZAI or ‘house of frames’ in Magyar is a private dwelling designed for a busy family. With everyone always having something to get done, this family often contiue their works at home, neglecting not only their unique hobbies and interests but also the meaning of their house as a home. Keretek Hazai was designed to remind the client of their hobbies, memories, and fun times to encourage the members to live a more balanced live. This goal is spatially translated with frames, which divide two activities in the house; the pragmatic and the sentimental ones.
dividing events and activities in front of and behind the frame
