01 Metro Station Node for Multi-modal Transit Hub

Semester 10, 2016 Individual Project brief The intent of this thesis is to modernize the Transportation Infrastructure for the Suburban regions of Greater NOIDA with the design of a Metro Station node in a Multi-modal Transit Hub consisting of a Rail and Bus Terminus. The proposed Metro line will link the region with the expanding NCR. The hub will also host Commercial and Recreational activities to displace the crunch in the NCR.

Project Context

Multi Modal Logistic Hub Proposed Site Plan

Greater NOIDA is a major industrial region 30 Km from Delhi established by the Government of India in the 1990s realizing the rapid growth of the Delhi and NCR. Since the region lies along the nation’s Western Dedicated Freight Corridor, it came under the purview for the Government’s development proposal in 2016 to encourage the growth of Industries and supporting facilities. The Government’s proposed Multi-modal transit Hub consists of a Railway terminal linking the hub with the Delhi-Howrah rail line, Interstate Bus Terminal to connect with the region and the Metro Station.

Semester 5, 2013 Individual Project Brief The proposal was a design for a performing arts center in the Pragathi Maidan complex. Pragathi Maidan is a venue for large convention and exhibition in New Delhi. The complex consist of many landmark buildings like Nehru Pavilion, headquarters of India Trade Promotion Organization and the recently demolished Hall of Nations. The proposed Performing Arts center should act as a timeless landmark among the others in the complex.

The site is flanked in the south by Bhairon Road, on the east runs the Central South Rail line.

The major activity spaces are arranged in the south and west sides and the service spaces were pushed to the north and east.

The final subtraction to the volume is made to facilitate the solar shading of the spaces.

Site Study I chose the partly constructed plinth on the North-Eastern side of the Architecture block as the site for the project. The plinth has escaped usual monitoring by the authorities, with this project; the plinth will get a face-lift, it can attract an active crowd and host healthy interactions. Ensconced in the middle of the Main block and the adjacent building the plinth presents us two problems to solve: predominant exposure to the mid-day sun and mild but continuous draft due to the arid surroundings.

05 School of Architecture Extension Pavilion Semester 02, 2012 Individual

Project Brief

The School of Architecture needed a single floor exhibition space for the students to showcase their works during monthly reviews, also the students were requesting for a Snack bar and Stationery shop within the building complex to avoid a 1 mile walk to the present store. We were given the freedom to choose the required area anywhere around the Architecture block, but support with a strong justification of the choice.
