App Store Localization: Easiest Way to Reach Global Audience Abstract Mobile app stores have officially gone global, and the next person to download your app could be located anywhere. But while your app may be globally available, it may not be global-ready. Today, localizing apps for key audience segments is a must. This is true for both iOS app localization and Android app localization. The Apple App Store distributes to over 150 countries in over 40 languages. What is App Store Localization? Localization is the process of rendering the content of your app into multiple languages. It is a crucial step to acquire overseas users from over 150 countries via Apple’s iTunes App Store. Using iTunes Connect, you can indicate whether your app is available in all territories or specific territories. Then you customize your app for each target market that you want to support. Users are different countries and speak different languages, want to use your app in a language they understand and see dates, times, and numbers in familiar, regional formats. Importance of App Store Localization Localizing apps for your target audience is good business practice, but it’s also a process that demands a clear business case before companies can invest the required resources. For any colleagues that still need convincing, here are just a few of the reasons why app localization deserves a place in mobility plans: •

90% of mobile device activity now occurs within apps, as opposed to browsers. Worldwide mobile app revenues will rise from $51 billion in 2016 to $101 billion in 2020. At that time, consumers across the APAC and EMEA regions will combine to generate 3.8x as many mobile app downloads as their counterparts in the Americas.
