01 Permeability in Urban Space Co-working space

Third year project Instructor : Hung-Hsuan Shen Site:Tainan ,Taiwan Autumn 2019

The abundant human and water relationship arounding site allow people to have a variety of vertical continuity vision experience .The spatial experience is integrated into the space design, and its spatial experience is strengthened as the main spacestrategy. It is expected that the architecture and the activities of the city are intertwined to create a new possibility of workplacepenetration. The Square planned by MVRDV is located diagonally opposite the base, ceremonially retaining the original foundation of the oldChinatown. The building inside uses an organic lagoon shape as a spatial treatment in response to the canal. The organic spacecreates a better and richer spatial experience. The permeability of space is to regard architecture as a medium for human activities. Therefore, the boundary of space is nolonger regarded as a constant existence. Human activities will penetrate into the space, creating the possibility of dialogue andinteraction. The interaction between the solid and the void makes the activities of human beings blend with each other, and thepermeability of space is generated here. The overlapping of floors makes the activities of people in the space not purelyvertical and horizontal movement. The three-dimensional curvature floor is used as the spatial boundary instead of the wallas the partition. The internal and external boundaries of the space become ambiguous and diverse.

02 RECHARGE THE LOVELY:

House swap mechanism in the aging society National Housing and Urban Regeneration Center Comprtition Instructor : Shih-Hung Yang Site:Taipei,Taiwan Spring 2021 A perfect life for the elderly must take into account the development of the elderly, the care industry, and young workers at the same time. Today, 70% of the elderly live in buildings above two floors without elevators. The care industry is facing space and manpower difficulties, while young people lack suitable office space... 1. Localization of the care industry We have proposed a housing exchange plan that combines the homes of the elderly and the social housing, and allows certain elderly people to apply for the social housing. After the government leases and manages, the space optimization is carried out in a joint venture with local organizations, and then the project is leased to the care industry to reduce the cost of ownership of care institutions, improve the social perception of care workers, and promote the near-localization of the care industry. 2. Mutual Benefit Model The shared office space in the community house attracts young entrepreneurs to settle in. The rent is used for the management and maintenance of the community house, and the rent can be reduced by organizing community activities. Shared office provides higher lease flexibility and communication opportunities. Cooperate with the introduction of community and campus resources to form a learning and information network for community houses. 3. From my home to our home In addition to the unit design to ensure 30% of the priority households, the volume responds to the history with a mountain shape, forming a unique image of a traditional village. The rich daily communication space, such as the atrium connected by the circulation and the street, can be used for community or campus activities; the community communication space and the centripetal central platform can be used as an extension of the home space. In this way, we will take root in our daily life and become a home for all of us.

[Configuration strategy]

As the core of improving the city's care functions, the Gonghao Community is also a node that expands to the five corners and gathers community activities. Therefore, it is hoped that it will present its positioning with a cordial attitude. Looking back at the history of the base, it used to be located at the junction of mountains and rivers, the waterway continued as a green belt, but the mountains that once occupied many life tracks have disappeared. We chose to reproduce the mountain, responding to the history of the base, its retreat from the outside, and its inward-centric spatial state, creating a friendly interactive relationship between the inside and outside of the house, and forming a highly recognizable image of the house.

03 TEMPORARY & PERMANENT HYBRID ARCHITECTURE Third year project Instructor : Maw-Chang Yen Site:Tainan ,Taiwan Spring 2020 About site The houses in the lanes and lanes are built on existing structures. Through simple construction, the houses build space with the neighbors on the left and the right. The houses seem to get the sense of space ownership and the dignity of life through the auxiliary structures. The space in the alleys is also variable due to the auxiliary structures. Everything seems to be between temporary and permanent, full of change and possibility. In the morning on Gongyuan South Road, there are many temporary vendors along the street that form the market under the arcades and scaffoldings. In the afternoon, they are left unused. The space lacks due flexibility. Faced with the current situation, we hope to deepen the market into the alley. The lanes provide open spaces. In the morning, they can provide a comfortable market space. In the afternoon, street performances, holiday markets, and outdoor exhibitions can also take place. The permanent space is full of temporary use. Future imagination In the face of possible changes in the future underground railways, the 40-meter widening of Gongyuan South Road, and the addition of Tainan MRT, we believe that the Tainan transfer station on the north side of the base should be moved to the junction around Xiaodong Road as a combination of undergroundization. The original transfer station land In the future, it may become the possibility of setting up large-scale sports halls. Combining undergroundization and the original stadium of Chenggong University, it will become a large-scale international sports field in Taiwan. Under the trend of declining birthrate, the park elementary school on the east side of the base is bound to face severe enrollment problems. Therefore, we provide a large number of small family-style living spaces in the base. We hope to build a good educational life circle with the park elementary school at night. The idle classrooms in the Park Elementary School can also become learning areas for the elderly.

04 MOSO 101 NCKU Student Competition 2021 Site:Taipei ,Taiwan Spring 2021

About site Shiyi District is the outcome of dense urban planning, which has risen to its peak nowadays. However, this delicately planned district is now facing severe population loss, becoming an unpleasant M-shaped society. Fifty years later, the leading role as a CBD is surely to be transferred. By then, all facilities will surely deteriorate, and will all need structural reinforcement. Hence, how to create a better interface with the city, and to pour in more activities and people, is the top priority in this case. Future imagination New functions will be added to the original shopping malls and offices, such as a power station and short-term residential spaces. The power station will be placed on the fourth to sixth floors in the lower building, using garbage as raw material for power generation. It will consume the garbage produced by 101 and the neighborhood, providing energy and heat for 101 itself and the neighborhood. In the future, the technology of waste-to-energy plants can possibly become pollution-free, allowing power plants to coexist with commercial and leisure spaces. It takes three to five years for bamboo to grow into full use, unlike artificial forest, which usually takes more than ten years. Bamboo is inexhaustible, and is more ecofriendly. In this case, we aim to optimize the urban environment around Taipei 101, accumulating 8 meters cubic bamboo frames as a new urban interface. 18 meters is the longest usable length of moso bamboo.) The mass of frames will expand towards nearby public facilities, department stores, skywalks and parks, creating a better semitropical urban environment. The same system is also attached to the exterior of the tower, creating a new elevation system. After the transfer of the central business district, a large amount of office space will be released. Therefore, short-term residential and public space will be added to the middle section of the building, covered by a bamboo structural facade system. The voids on the wavy elevation will serve as wind tunnels to alleviate wind resistance, and lead the wind to public spaces within. Lastly but not least, we aim to optimize 101 and its surroundings by inserting new structural frames and functions, creating better interface and space in the city.

05 Booom room

X-site Land Art Competition Taipei Fine Arts Museum X-site 2021 First Prize Site:Taipei Fine Art Museum Plaza,Taiwan Summer 2020 (Design)- Summer 2021(Completion) With Booom room, we launched a thorough investigation of possibilities with regard to energy expansion and the traversal of space in a set of installations that radiate from the center of TFAM's outdoor plaza. Providing a visual focal point at the center of the various installations, a structure resembling a nuclear power plant cooling tower serves as a metaphor for our worry about and quest for energy. Furthermore, invisible, heterogeneous sound waves are generated that vibrate the space and expand the borders of perception. Vessel: Apocalyptic Architecture as Energy Carrier In this project, the collaborators have constructed a post-industrial architectural vessel with an eschatological atmosphere, and used invisible energy to create an ambient zone that opens bodily perceptions. With the production of sounds and a series of reactions associated with explosions, the project simulates an energy implosion, and with structures, sounds, lights, and vibrations, ultimately forms a unique spatial experience. Explosions: Explosive Shock Waves Traveling through Space In the space constructed for this project, collaborators have simulated the shock wave generated by an explosion with noise that leads to the disturbance. The waves spread through the structure so that visitors can perceive the changing vibrations. A unique ambient zone is created by both the physical presence of the structure at the site, as well as the main part and fragments that contain the explosion, light waves, sounds, and resonance. Fluctuations in the concentration and dispersal of energy create liminal spaces that can be sensed. Introduction to the Architectural Form For the main structure of Booom room, collaborators adopted the form of a nuclear power plant cooling tower. Visitors are drawn to this structure and in the process of approaching it and walking around the fragments, they feel the oppression of the huge structure's mass as well as a faintly restless sound that causes anxiety. The seemingly inaccessible architectural volume is made of wood and has a gently sloping base that allows it to be easily entered. After entering, visitors cannot avoid being affected by strong vibrations. The main interior space features a sunken round area with wooden tiers where visitors can sit and experience changing light and sound. From this sunken area filled with sound, multiple wooden columns extend upward to form a tower that is a central focal point and includes a space for one person to stand and experience an explosion sound that seems to be emanating from above. These energy waves focused here create a unique perceptual spatial experience.
