ack in 1989, Gerald and Shirley Seese of Clarksville threw a pig roast potluck celebration after having purchased a thrasher. Gerald’s cousin, Lloyd Blough, showed up with his steam engine and, when the pair put the two machines together for a demonstration, a tradition was born. The Clarksville Steam and Gas Engine Association will light up the firepower for the 26th straight year during a three-day celebration that starts Thursday, Aug. 20 in a field located at 9300 Robbins Road in Clarksville. Since Gerald and Lloyd put their heads and their machines together that summer day in 1989, the event has added many other attractions to entertain and to enlighten visitors of all ages.
