he 26th annual Meals on Wheels Walkathon, the biggest fundraiser of the year for the Barry County Commission on Aging, will be Saturday, May 16. Registration begins at 9:30, and the walk steps off from the COA at 10 a.m. All of the money stays in Barry County to provide meals for homebound residents age 60 and up. Monday through Friday, the kitchen at the COA is a whirl of activity as people prepare to deliver food for the Meals on Wheels program. Here, (from left) Dann Furrow, driver for the Woodland and Nashville area; Mary Cook, site supervisor; Randy Evans, driver for southern Barry County; Gayla Kretovich, driver for the Middleville area; and Elaine Brill, nutrition coordinator, pose in the kitchen among boxes of food items. To learn more about the Meals on Wheels program and how it serves the seniors in Barry County see the story inside this issue.
