WHAT IS COMMUNITY ARTS
The community/communities are authors, subjects and the main audience for the community arts
Art processes developed together with one or several
specific
communities.
The
community/communities are involved in the creative process from the starting point to the final product. Community arts can include any kind
of
media
(visual
arts,
photography,
literature, dance, theatre etc.). Artists and community members decide together the artistic
products. The members of the community become artists
themselves,
working
together
with
professionals to express their own problems, demands, dilemmas – their own vision on the world. The artistic product is only a result and not the main objective of the community arts project. The process of working, sharing and learning together is the goal.
