Performing Arts Scholars
Samantha Karp’s Ramapo College Foundation Scholarship is named for Sharp Electronics, a lead sponsor of the Performing Arts Dinner Series and the Distinguished Citizens Dinner.
Samantha Karp is an Accounting major and a Psychology minor. The sophomore, who earned a 4.0 grade point average in her first year at Ramapo College, is a member of the Accounting Club, 1STEP (Students Together for Environmental Progress) and the Sigma Delta Tau sorority. Samantha says of her scholarship, “It has allowed me to focus fully on the academic aspect of college and not have to worry about how my family will afford the tuition.” She enjoys the College’s small class sizes, the availability and dedication of the professors and how they help their students succeed. “Attending Ramapo College and living on my own has allowed me to become a more independent and responsible person,” Samantha says.
“This scholarship will allow me to study at Ramapo for four years and to double major in Accounting and Psychology without having to struggle to pay back large debts when I graduate and allow me to enjoy a great career in the field I choose.”

Matthew Crum’s Ramapo College Foundation Scholarship is named in honor of Liberty Hyundai & Subaru, a lead sponsor of the Performing Arts Dinner Series. Sophomore Matthew Crum is a Bioinformatics major who has a 3.63 grade point average. He plans to declare Computer Science as his minor. In his freshman year he quickly immersed himself in campus life. Matthew served on the Executive Board of the Biology Club, helped host Dance for Diabetes and played intramural soccer, among other sports. Matthew says of his scholarship, “It helps me appreciate how much Ramapo College has offered to improve my education and what the College will do to augment my learning.” One of the things he likes best about the campus, which he describes as gorgeous, is that his professors go out of their way to help students. He also enjoys the collegiate atmosphere, saying, “Everyone has been extremely nice and friends are easy to come by.”
“This scholarship is helping me pay for my education and giving me the chance to focus more on my education and less on how I will pay for it.”

MAGIC OFF THE HOOK! STARRING TOMMY WIND
Time Out Magazine calls him “mind boggling” and Awe Magazine quotes, “He takes the audience to another place.” Tommy Wind won the “Best Teen Magician of the Year” from the World Magic Awards. CHERISH THE LADIES IRISH CHRISTMAS SHOW
For the past 25 years, Cherish the Ladies has proven themselves to be one of the most engaging ensembles in the history of Irish music. Taking their name from a traditional Irish jig, the group initially began in 1985 with a series of concerts celebrating the rise of female musicians in a once male dominated scene.

The troupe initially won recognition as the first allwomen traditional music and dance ensemble, but soon established themselves as musicians and performers without peer, and have won many thousands of fans of their music.

PAULA POUNDSTONE
Paula is so quick and unassuming that audience members at her live shows often leave complaining that their cheeks hurt from laughter and debating whether the random people she talked to were “plants.” In 1979 Paula began nurturing her standup comedy talent as part of the Boston comedy scene, and then moved to San Francisco where she continued to flourish. By 1990 she’d relocated to Los Angeles and had starred in several comedy specials for HBO, as well as appeared on Saturday Night Live when friend and mentor Robin Williams hosted the show. Paula’s first one-hour HBO special, “Cats, Cops, and Stuff” made her the first woman to ever receive the Cable ACE for best standup comedy special.

THE SONGS OF FRANK SINATRA BY CARY HOFFMAN
Hoffman turns his highly rated PBS special into a musical play about his obsession with Sinatra and the influence he had on him. After the death of his father, while growing up, he looked to Sinatra as an escape, especially since his three uncles were jazz musicians who had played and recorded with Sinatra. A hilarious and poignant story, which weaves in more than 20 of Sinatra’s songs, Hoffman creates a musical score to his and his hero’s life. “A startlingly convincing music simulation... A mesmerizing performance.” - The L.A. Times, Don Heckman “Of the many Sinatra-related shows we’ve seen, this is the one that seems most worthy of an Off-Broadway run.” - talkinbroadway.com, Scott Siegel
