Some concerts feature complete renditions of an artist’s breakthrough album; others take the form of an overview of his/ her body of work. In a fitting “hats off ” to one of the greatest song stylists of the 20th century, Sweet Baby James: The Music of James Taylor features a generation of singer/musicians influenced by James Taylor. This ensemble of seven (playing piano/synth, guitar, bass, drums, cello vocals) stars Bob Stillman as lead vocalist and one of New York City’s leading club and studio singers, Connie James. Together, they render versions of Taylor’s classic bittersweet country rock songs built around love, friendship, loss and life.
He wrote jokes for Lily Tomlin, Billy Crystal, Roseanne Barr, Bette Midler, Rosie O’Donnell, Paul Reiser, Elizabeth Taylor, Steven Tyler of Aerosmith, and Robin Williams. Vilanch has been writing for the Academy Awards since 1989, providing topical joke material for the show’s hosts and he is a featured writer for the Tonys, Grammys and Emmys.
