Apocalypse Now! The Post COVID-19 City
Treasure Island is an almost 600-acre artificial island that lies in the middle of the San Francisco Bay. The island's current development plan creates an active corridor only along the South East edge and assumes that most residents will leave the island to work. This proposal seeks to activate more of the island for both residents and visitors by branching out its central core towards the sport, recreational and agricultural area. The proposal has two inflection points that act as nodes for people to gather. Our intent is to hyper-intensify the nodes to drive foot traffic and create a hub of activity beyond the existing active zone. To achieve this, the project focuses on activating the ground floor with a mixeduse of retail, cultural, educational, industrial, work, and service-based spaces. 8

Common Ground, Re-making the Ground Floor
San Francisco's known Japantown is located in the Western Addition between Geary and Sutter St. Our vision drawing represents the history, present and potential future of Japantown. This project rethinks the typology of the mall by adressing the practice of commoning. The practice of commoning is typically organized by the users and requires active participation. The commons plays a big role in social infrastructure creating unique forms of co-ownership and co-governance.
10
Our vision for Japantown wishes to provide a networking platform for the local business, while creating meaningful spaces for community empowerment. The project aspires to achieve this goal through business assistance for financial and netwroking support, art incubators and workshops to stimulate cultural presence and activation to public space with access to green.

Unresolved Legibility & Dramas of Critical Banality
The locational context of this lake house elicits the use of characteristics to add clarity to otherwise inconclusive architectural legibility.
16
A lake house has amphibious qualities dictated by the shoreline, which represents a threshold between two worlds. Often in popular imagination, the lake house is layered with contradictory representations. It evokes a
vision of comfort and security, yet also portrays a dwelling of vulnerability and isolation. A lake house can be an escape from chaotic routines in a habitual life in favor of a reclusive lifestyle. Thus, it's depicted as a mysterious place with a sense of ambiguity and spatial drama.
Though often perceived as adjacent to the lake, the lake house may belong to the land or the water—or neither.
