From Editor to the Reader After 15 years working on incoming tourism, we decided to make a guide for our clients. But it´s not just a guide. It´s a tool to help you in the process of your booking decision, to choose this hotel better than the other one, or choosing this activity instead the other one. You will find here, a list of activities to do in Bariloche and the area of the lakes, forests and lakes, with total lenght, available days of operation, meals included, seasons, and guide language. You will fiind also location and a brief description of the hotels we suggest for the area. San Carlos de Bariloche, usually known as Bariloche, is a city in the province of Río Negro, Argentina, situated in the foothills of the Andes on the southern shores of Nahuel Huapi Lake. It is located within the Nahuel Huapi National Park. After development of extensive public works and Alpine-styled architecture, the city emerged in the 1930s and 1940s as a major tourism centre with skiing, trekking and mountaineering facilities. In addition, it has numerous restaurants, cafés, and chocolate shops. The city has a permanent population of 108,205 according to the 2010 census. The name Bariloche comes from the Mapuche word Vuriloche meaning "people from behind the mountain" (vuri = behind, che = people). The Poya people used the Vuriloche pass to cross the Andes, keeping it secret from the Spanish priests for a long time. From the city, visitors can enjoy the largest ski resort in South America: Cerro Catedral, and during spring and summer season is a wonderful destination to enjoy lakes, mountains, and forests, with many national parks like Nahuel Huapi National Park, Los Arrayanes National Park, and Lanin National Park close to San Martin de los Andes.


BRC 001 - CIRCUITO CHICO EXCURSION A ride along a most traditional route of Bariloche Starting from the city center the more traditional route of Bariloche bordering the southern shore of Lake Nahuel Huapi begins. It presents a unique viewpoint, known as Panorama Point and outstanding attractions such as Llao Llao Hotel and San Eduardo chapel, next to Puerto scarf . A 17 km from the center of the city is the Cerro Campanario . From the viewpoint and confectionery top you can enjoy the incredible panoramic views of the area. He rises imposingly in the way the historic Hotel Llao Llao, with a natural environment that attracts all visitors and a unique view of the area and the luxurious hotel. Part of this walk many teahouses and craft breweries, plus spaces where textiles, ceramics, leather, candles and all kinds of crafts are sold. Also soft trails Llao Llao Municipal Park offer the possibility of quiet walks in the woods.

Remember to take the chairlift of the Centenario Hill, one of the most incredible views of the area can be enjoyed at the top!

BRC 002 – CERRO OTTO A wonderful view from the top of this hill, with a rotating café! The Otto hill is just five kilometers from the city center. Upon reaching the base gondolas ascend to the rotating cafe. This modern means of lifting covers the route from the lower station to the upper station, located on top of Cerro Otto , over a distance of 2100 meters. BRC 004 – EXCURSION TO EL BOLSON Enjoy this particular small village, only 129 km from Bariloche This town is 129 kilometers south of Bariloche , on Route 40 South. BRC 005 – SAN MARTIN DE LOS ANDES VIA 7-LAKE CIRCUIT A great excursión from Bariloche to the small village of San Martin de los Andes, via the incredible 7-lake circuit… The route of the Seven Lakes allows a route between the cities of San Martin de los Andes and Bariloche , which dazzles the passing landscapes. From Bariloche to San Martin de los Andes 184 kilometers and the tour takes a full day walking. Lake Nahuel Huapi, Correntoso, Espejo, Escondido, Villarino, Falkner, and Machónico observed. Lake Lácar borders and then get to San Martin de los Andes, where we have lunch and tour the city. BRC 006 – CERRO CAMPANARIO The best view of Bariloche area from Campanario Hill! The ascent to this hill you can do walking or by ski lifts. The view from the summit is spectacular and many people agree that it is one of the best of Bariloche and even the world. There is also a tearoom where you can enjoy the cuisine and homemade pastries. To reach the foot of Cerro Campanario must take Bustillo Avenue up to 17,500 KM. For those wanting to walk around, climb on foot is a good option. The hill is not very high (the summit is about 1050 m) and even permanently rises, is at the top in about 30 minutes. You can see the lakes Nahuel Huapi and Perito Moreno, El Trébol lagoon, peninsulas San Pedro and Llao Llao, Victoria Island , the hills Otto , Lopez, Goye, Bellavista, Cathedral , Chapel; Hotel Llao Llao, Groves Colonia Suiza, among other landmarks. Heaven, forests, and especially the whole of nature, the overall vision of this wonderful place that is the Andean Patagonia, is what most touches. BRC 007 – CERRO VIEJO A nice chairlift for the family Only ten blocks from the Civic Center in a fun adventure for the whole family park. Chairlift, myrtle forest trails and confectionery in the gazebo, giant slide, restaurant, museum and craft ride skier. It is an unforgettable visit.

BRC 008 – BIG CIRCUIT (CIRCUITO GRANDE) A very nice circuit to visit the surrounding areas of Bariloche This is an excursion that starts from Bariloche , along National Route 237. The Ñireco, Ñirihuau and the Rio Limay, bordering the provinces of Neuquen and Rio Black creek is crossed. Limay River is lining up to Rincón Grande to find the call Amphitheater, then the Enchanted Valley, where you can see strange rock figures and few kilometers later you get to Confluence. Henceforth, through forests cohiues will skirt Traful Lake, until reaching the village of the same name and then to Puerto Arrayán and El Portezuelo spot where the road joins Route 234 or Route of the Seven Lakes . BRC 009 – CERRO LEONES Visit one of the most important caves in the area, in Cero Leones Park Parque Cerro Leones is one of the most important caves in the area, 15 kilometers visiting Bariloche , eastward. BRC 010 – CERRO TRONADOR & LOS ALERCES FALLS One of the best excursions in the área. The landscape surrounding the Cerro Tronador, the highest hill on the outskirts of Bariloche , in the Nahuel Huapi National Park offers unparalleled opportunity to appreciate a glacier: the Black Glacier. On the way to the hill, more than 3,400 meters high, combine various natural phenomena. After leaving the center on Route 40 South, bordering Lake Gutierrez, we reach the watershed, from there all the rivers and lakes flow into the Pacific and up to that point in the Atlantic. Thereafter, the road follows the east bank of Lake Mascardi. After passing Villa Mascardi, turn right and begins a gravel road, with radales, abundant musk, maitenes, coihues, cypresses, among others, that guard the narrow path. On the bridge The Rapids trout can be seen swimming in the clear water rushed and if you’re lucky you can also see a kingfisher. The Manso River is changing hue along the route, after birth at the top of Tronador. Curves and reverse curves make progress towards Pampa Linda where there is an inn, a campsite and a military outpost. From here the ascent continues to the Glacier, a glacier on the wane that descends from the Tronador that stands out for its color, and can see one of the few wonders of the world still standing.

BRC 011 – VICTORIA ISLAND & ARRAYANES NATIONAL PARK It is the most important and traditional excursion of the Nahuel Huapi National Park . We set sail from Puerto Pañuelo in the most prestigious and emblematic boat of the National Park and then an hour of navigation we arrived at the Peninsula Quetrihue where you can appreciate the magnificence of the landscape “unique Myrtle Forest in the world”. Walking a planked path you can see these ancient trees. El Arrayan is botanically classified as a shrub that takes place only in that the plant tree habit. It has a deep tan with a very thin crust, which leaves to rid himself with white spots that give it unique characteristics. Then navigate to the “ Victoria Island “landing at Puerto Anchorena. BRC 012 – BOAT NAVIGATION TO PUERTO BLEST & LOS CANTAROS FALLS A very nice boat navigation to visit Puerto Blest and the incredible Frias Lake Departing from Puerto Pañuelo about an hour surfing the most important arm of Lake Nahuel Huapi: the Blest. Passing by the Sentinel island, where the remains of Perito Moreno, promoter of the National Parks, arriving at the waterfall the pitchers. A stepped path up through the lush vegetation of the Valdivian jungle walks, to reach Lake Cantaros (waterfall source) and a larch 1,500 years old. Then we headed to Puerto Blest choosing between a short navigation (5 minutes) or doing a walk along the bay. Upon arrival we see the Frias river green waters particular, from one of the glaciers of Mount Tronador. Throughout this area you will appreciate the lush vegetation of the Argentina portion of the Valdivian Forest. This circuit can make the navigation of Lake Frias as an optional extension. In this case, walking 3 km by bus through the cold jungle and then Felix Frias Lake for 25 minutes surfing can appreciate the wonderful greenish and one of the most stunning views of Cerro Tronador. BRC 013 – LAKES CROSSING (ANDEAN CROSSING TO CHILE) The best way to cross from Argentina to Chile, crossing the Andes… by lake! NAHUEL HUAPI NATIONAL PARK

Nahuel Huapi National Park (Spanish: Parque Nacional Nahuel Huapi) is the oldest national park in Argentina, established in 1934. It surrounds Nahuel Huapi Lake in the foothills of the Patagonian Andes. The largest of the national parks in the region, it has an area of 7,050 km2 (2,720 sq mi), or nearly 2 million acres. Its landscapes represent the north Patagonian Andean Zone consisting of three types, namely, the Altoandino (with perpetual snow above an altitude of 1,600 metres (5,200 ft)), the Andino-Patagónico (in the lower reaches of the hills) and the Patagonian steppe. It also represents small parts of the Valdivian Rainforest. The park and the reserve lie at an altitude of 720–3,574 metres (2,362–11,726 ft), and are designated under IUCN management categories II (National Park) and IV (Management Reserve). The park is completely protected while the reserve is partially protected. The national park is dominated by the high mountain chain of the Andes, many lakes, rapid rivers, waterfalls, snow-clad peaks, glaciers and extensive forests. It is bordered by Chile on its western side. Most visitors cross from Bariloche to Puerto Varas, throught a wonderful excursion called Cruce Andino or Lakes Crossing.
