raveling to Nepal for the first time and getting overwhelmed? Not sure of what you can do or expect to see? Then this is the trip you are looking for. This trip puts together a bit of everything Nepal has to offer; from UNESCO recognized cultural heritages to great mountain vistas, mild river rafting adventures to exciting jungle safari rides, leisurely village hikes to slightly strenuous trekking and much more! The trips are also timed with the local festivities that will give you the opportunity to truly understand the rich Nepali culture and tradition. The trip begins in the Kathmandu Valley by exploring three Durbar Squares with former Royal Palaces, architecturally rich and religiously important Hindu temples and Buddhist monasteries and hiking through the Newari Villages. A 30 minutes scenic flight then whisks us to the glaciated valley of Pokhara and we get onto a 4 day easy to moderate graded trekking in the Annapurna that takes us through the picturesque Gurung Villages-nestled in the lap of snow capped mountains. Following the trek, we explore the caves, gorges and temples of Pokhara and enjoy boating at Fewa Lake-the prime attraction of the valley. Our next destination is the lesser-known Bandipur Village, which has the medieval town-like features: substantial buildings
with neoclassical façades, shuttered windows and streets paved with slabs of silver-hued slate. Situated atop a hillock (1400m/4592 ft), Bandipur also offers stupendous mountain views. Then, we start our class II rafting trip down the Seti River, which maintains year round geothermal warm water. This river passes through stunning jungle scenery, green hills and valleys. Afterwards, we spend a night in a simple yet comfortable tented camp. The next two days are spent in the Chitwan National Park – One of the most famous natural game parks in Asia, known for the preservation of the Great One Horned Rhinoceros. The park is also a home to the Royal Bengal Tiger, Sloth Bears, Spotted Deers, Sambars, Rhesus and Langur Monkeys, Gharial and Mugger crocodiles and more than 600 different species of birds! At Chitwan, we embark on various jungle safari activities that include elephant safaris, canoe trips, nature treks, bird watching and much more. Another 25 minutes flight (otherwise, it’s a minimum 5 hrs drive) brings us back to Kathmandu where we spend the last day in leisure. There are opportunities for some optional activities such as an hour-long Everest flight in Kathmandu, Tandem paragliding or ultra-light flights in Pokhara that you can decide upon once you are in Kathmandu.

ikkim and Darjeeling are the jewels on the crown of the Himalayas. Darjeeling, straddling at a ridge 7000ft/2,134m and surrounded by tea plantations on all sides, is a popular hill station since the British established it to escape the heat of Kolkatta in the mid1800s. Sikkim, once an independent kingdom, is now the 22nd state of India and is the land of the world’s third highest peak – Mount Kanchenjunga, beautiful high altitude lakes, hot springs and rivers, tea estates and rich Buthia, Lepcha and the astonishing Nepali culture. On this beautiful trip, we will explore the region’s rich Buddhist monasteries, temples, tea plantations, experience the steam engine train ride and absorb the beauty of the snowcapped mountain peaks to the fullest! This trip will give us an opportunity to traverse to the remote North Sikkim, mostly untouched by the outside
world – requiring a special permit for entrance. The ever-present mighty mountains whose snowcapped p‑eaks mark the border to Tibet surround the sparse settlements of Northern Sikkims’ Bhutias and Lepchas. We will take walks; explore the countryside, visit monasteries and a nunnery. We will also visit traditional Lepcha and Bhutia families and receive deep insights into the culture and traditions of Northern Sikkims’ Bhutias as well as enjoy the authentic Sikkimese cuisine. The Best of Ladakh Himalayas
L
adakh, bounded by world’s two mightiest mountain ranges- the great Himalayas and the Karakoram, is geographically a part of India but culturally and physically is very much like Tibet and old Central Asia. While the plains of India is hot and humid and the monsoon braces the windward slopes of the Nepal and Bhutan Himalaya from June to August; Ladakh is at its best. Its location on the leeward side of the Himalaya puts “Little Tibet” in a rain shadow outside of the summer rains. For centuries, Silk Road caravans and faithful pilgrims passed through the mountain crossroads between India, Tibet and Chinese Turkestan, endowing Ladakh with a melting pot of artistic tradition. The trip begins at New Delhi-the capital city of India-where we explore the forts, mosques, temples and the vibrant bazaars. Then we fly to into Leh – the capital town of Ladakh and spend a few days acclimatizing and exploring its monasteries, palaces and forts. We take a moderate graded rafting trip in Indus River and enjoy the scenic beauty of the area.

www.highlandasiatravel.com
Next, we take a jeep safari trip to the east, to the plains of Changthang grasslands and visit the stunningly beautiful Pangong Lake – about half of which lake lies within the Chinese territory. Later on, we drive over the world’s highest motorable pass, Khardung La (18, 380ft) to the north frontiers of Nubra valley – which was restricted to the tourists until just a decade ago. At the Nubra Valley, we spend 2 nights visiting rock-clinging monasteries, villages and riding double humped Bactrian camels on its sand dunes. We will also visit the Dah and Hanu Villages to the south of Leh and meet the Drokpa Community – considered to be the last pure race of Aryans confined to the valley. Some trips will be timed with the Tsechu festivalscelebrated to commemorate the heroic deeds of Guru Padmasambhava, who introduced Buddhism to the region. The beauty and the magnificence of Ladakh will leave you in awe by the end of this trip.
