Kapan Monastery Kapan Monastry known as a Gompa is situated at Kopan hill on the outskirts of Kathmandu, near Bouddhanath stupa in Bouddha. It is about 8 km from the airport and 12 km from downtown city. Kopan was conceived by lama Yeshe and Lama Zopa Rinpoche as a place of study and meditation for students from the Himalayan sangha and foreign countries. Monks and nuns from the age of seven come from all over Nepal and the Himalayan periphery countries to receive a classical monastic education. Kopan Monastery had its beginnings in the Solu-khumbu region of the Himalayan Mountains. In 1971 Lama Zopa Rinpoche, the reincarnation of the Lawudo Lama, a yogi of the tiny hamlet of Lawudo, fulfilled the promise of the previous Lawudo Lama to start a monastic school for the local children. The school was called Mount Everest Center. Twenty five monks moved down from the mountain to Kopan in 1971 - prompted by the harsh climate at an altitude of 4000m, which made study barely possible in winter. Now Kopan is a thriving monastery of 360 monks, mainly from Nepal and Tibet, and a spiritual oasis for hundreds of visitors yearly from around the world. Nearby is Khachoe Ghakyil Ling Nunnery, home to 380 nuns. Both the monastery and the nunnery are under the spiritual guidance of Lama Zopa Rinpoche, and the care of the abbot, Khen Rinpoche Geshe Lhundrup Rigsel. And it is the wellspring of the FPMT, a network of some 140 centers and activities world-wide, themselves expressions of the Buddha activity of Lama Thubten Yeshe and Lama Zopa Rinpoche. The Kopan Monastery is also a unique spiritual meditational center that brings solace to many who visit here from far & wide.

Paragliding From Sarangkot (1500m) to Pokhara (800m), a first flight experience. Feel the sensation of flying in thermal conditions, (rising more than 500 m from the take-off point), from there we fly cross-country with the birds, over the local countryside you will see the rice fields, traditional villages and the people working in the fields, before we fly over the lake, offering the chance to do a little acrobatic flying (if you want to!), before landing beside the lakesid. First time? No worries, experience is not required! Tandem flying is when a certified pilot flies with a passenger. Both pilot and passenger sit in harnesses that are attached to each other and the wing. A paragliding harness is designed for safety and comfort, and is like sitting in a comfy chair. After an easy take-off, the passenger sits back and relaxes...enjoying the epic scenery and breathing the mountain air. Bring with you strong shoes, and a windproof jacket. A calm scenic float, or an acrobatic tumbling routine, your choice...just tell the pilot your preference.
Bungee Jump The ultimate thrill of a Bungee jump can now be experienced in Nepal at perhaps the best site in the world. Nepal’s first bungee jumping site is situated 160m over the wild Bhote Koshi river, and located close to the Nepal-Tibet border, a three-hour bus ride from Kathmandu. The jump, at 160m, was designed by one of New Zealand’s leading bungee consultants, and is operated by some of the most experienced jump masters in the business. It’s mishap-proof. The agency takes safety “very, very seriously”. Location : Eastern Nepal Less than 3 hours from Kathmandu in the Arniko (Kathmandu/Lhasa) Highway to within 12km of the Tibet Border and the famous Friendship Bridge. The Gorge: 166m wide steel suspension bridge over the Bhote Koshi River. The Bridge : Swiss designed, specially for bungee jumping with a 4x safety factor. The bridge has a loading factor of 250kg per running meter. This means that the bridge will hold 250 x 166 = 41,500kg or 4.5 tones And those are Swiss measurements! * Over 6000 meters of steel wire was used to build the bridge * Longest suspension bridge in Nepal * The bridge joins two sides of a great valley. Before its construction, locals walked five hours to cross this river gorge.
