Established in 1973, Chitwan National Park is Nepal’s first National Park. Located in south central Nepal in the Terai, Nepal’s subtropical lowlands, the park covers an area of 932 km2. Declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1983, the park proudly houses a rich variety of flora and fauna.

The lakes and rivers of the park are home to an abundance of Marsh Mugger crocodiles and the rare, endangered, fish-eating Gharial crocodile.
