It is said that before the Gods left this earth they played in the mountains for 30,000 years, which is why the Himalayas are blessed.

THE HIMALAYAS ARE OURS, and it gives us immense pleasure of unravelling their wonders to you. When we commenced operations, Nepal was, as it is even today, famous as an adventure destination. But being in this business, it was next to impossible to reach many of the remote areas. We three brothers – Lakpa Sonam Sherpa, myself and late Ang Tendi Sherpa – who hail from the remote Solukhumbu region, wanted to change this once and for all. Hence, after much deliberation, we finally decided to dry lease our first ‘Twin Otter’ aircraft from Canada, 15 years ago in May 1998. And little did we realise how fast time would fly... Besides reaching these isolated areas, we wanted even more to help the people of these farflung places. Working in a challenging environment like Nepal, it was not an easy task to be where we are today. An existing fleet of 16 aircraft and over 900 employees would not have been possible without the support of my family and dedicated team. Not forgetting, the tremendous blessings and guidance of my late Guru, Kyabje Trulshik Rinpoche. Today, we fly to 29 domestic destinations and also have a wide network of scheduled services and command major market share, combining both the hills and plains of Nepal. “Now from the airline industry we have transgressed into all walks of the tourism field. Starting from five star deluxe hotels with “state of the art facilities” with a Glen Eagles designed 18 hole Golf Course to the best comfort lodges you can find both in the Annapurna and the Everest regions, we have tried to offer the best we can to the stringent traveller. Over and above, our newest addition is a 40 room Kasara Resort in the Chitwan National Park coupled with unmatched helicopter services we can safely say that our group today boasts of a one window solution to all your travel requirements.” In this tireless struggle, I must thank my elder brother Lhakpa Sonam Sherpa, presently Chairman of the entire Yeti Group and my younger brother, late Ang Tendi Sherpa, whose contributions were invaluable, and also my wife Chanda, who was a relentless support, constant friend and true inspiration. “It is said that before the Gods left this earth they played in the mountains for 30,000 years, which is why the Himalayas are blessed.” Your continuous patronage will always be cherished. Please come embark on a flight of a lifetime!

FACTS & FIGURES Nepal’s highest taxpayer for 14 consecutive years Highest domestic foreign income earner Highest number of adventure tourists served annually International Star for Quality Award 1987 Estd. 410 staff 4000 clients per year
Thamserku Trekking is Nepal’s leading adventure travel and holiday agent. The Sherpa people have traditionally been known as “the guardians of the Himalaya.” As Sherpa, we know and love this region and it is in this role that Sonam wished to share this knowledge and love with others. On his return from a season of work in the French Alps, he knew he had to turn this journey of the imagination into a reality. In Sonam’s words “it was when standing on the summit of the 6,632m peak, Thamserku, that I decided to form a company that would offer everyone the opportunity to discover and appreciate the beauty and challenge of these awe inspiring mountains.” And so the Thamserku Company was born, establishing itself in a tiny office in central Kathmandu. Within the first year Thamserku attracted a young French trekking company, Allibert, and Amical Alpin Germany. From the early days of just 18 intrepid French trekkers to over 1000 clients in 1989. The company was successfully grown hand-in-hand over the years and within 10 years generated about 4600 clients annually. www.thamserkutrekking.com
