LEADING EDGE RETRACTABLES The ideal position of a retractable, when used as a part of a PFAS, is directly overhead. Often, a retractable will be placed on the deck and used at foot level. Almost all retractable lifelines on the market are not allowed to be used in this manner if the worker is exposed to a leading edge hazard. Anytime there is a potential for a lifeline to come into contact with an edge of any material during a fall, a Leading Edge SRL should be used. The ideal position for an anchor point connection to a SRL is above the back d-ring of the harness, so when the anchor point is below the back d-ring or at foot level a Leading Edge SRL is the right choice.
