Our operations were sustainable long before the term became the buzzword it is today. Our continuous focus on safety for our staff and surroundings, combined with resource efficiency and a circular approach, has always formed the natural core of what we do.
At Ramudden Global, safety is not just a core value – it’s our North Star, guiding daily activities as well as long-term strategies. It’s a non-negotiable commitment to our employees, customers, road users, authorities, and other stakeholders.
As frontrunners, we have both the opportunity and responsibility to elevate standards. But also to minimize our contribution to emissions and climate change and to be part of a sustainable transition for people and our planet.
Expertise, innovation, and ambition form the cornerstone of transforming our aspirations into tangible achievements. With the wealth of know-how within our organization, we possess unparalleled capacity to develop pioneering products and digital solutions, which we deliver with pride contributing to a safer world.
We believe that a strong safety culture begins with leadership and flourishes through individual ownership. Everyone, regardless of their role, is encouraged to voice concerns, suggest improvements, and actively contribute to maintaining our high standards.
Even the smallest details can make a significant difference in getting people home safely every day.
Our operations were sustainable long before the word became the buzzword it is today. Our continuous focus on safety for our staff and surroundings, combined with resource efficiency and a circular approach, has always formed the natural core of what we do. Nowadays, sustainability also helps support our business strategy, in order to meet our own ambition, the requirements set by our customers, partners, investors and authorities. Furthermore, we are also subject to EU regulations, which are becoming ever stricter, bringing about great changes and serving as a driving force for our business.
To accelerate this work, at the start of 2023 a sustainability function was established at Ramudden Global level, based in Stockholm. Over the course of the year, we formulated three focus areas for our strategic sustainability work: safety for employees, safety for the general public, and the environment. Ramudden Global’s first double materiality assessment further emphasised these focus areas from the perspectives of risks, opportunities, and impacts.
A number of key initiatives were launched during the year: we established a sustainability council and a committee for health and safety, launched a project examining our emissions, and hired a sustainability controller to refine our reporting processes.
The broad brushstrokes within sustainability are applied at global level, but there is a lot of room for local adaptation. What is key is having a shared ambition and approach, regardless of the market. To properly integrate and leverage sustainability we are currently focusing on three different aspects, with local ownership being key. :
1. Governance, using new policies and processes to manage the fundamental sustainability issues effectively and in a standardised manner.
2. The corporate culture and leadership, with which we create a common sense of responsibility for sustainability throughout the organisation, regardless of role.
3. New technology and innovations, which we use to improve processes, reduce costs, and manage our most impactful sustainability issues.

The year was characterised by a fast-paced approach, wide scale commitment, and several exciting contexts in which Ramudden Global is growing in importance as a societal operator.
During 2023, we created Ramudden Digital at a global level to advance development of smart solutions. This new business unit supports all 11 countries and makes creating new ideas, best practices, and development easier.
This was also the year when our digital vision made the leap from concept to reality. As of early 2024, we have approximately 5,000 connected devices in use by our customers, with solutions such as IntelliTag, smart batteries, remote-controlled automatic barriers, and real-time reporting improving safety and reducing transport needs.
Through strategic acquisitions and reorganisation, we have strengthened our options for promoting development of nextgeneration traffic safety solutions on a global level. These latest acquisitions make us more responsive to customer needs, at the same time as increasing our control over the supply chain in terms of choice of materials, work environment and transport, for example.
Secure traffic access in a safe environment is essential for a functional society. In this respect, Ramudden Global is a key facilitator. The solutions we develop have their roots in caring about employees, passers-by, and the environment. During the year, we have strengthened our innovation capacity significantly, as well as increasing the number of digital sites.
We are paving the way for an ever more digital traffic environment, where sites can be monitored in real-time, down to the lowest signage level, from a central platform. We are especially proud of IntelliTag, which is a tracker attached to equipment and triggers its own alarm if, for example, the sign falls or is struck by a vehicle. These solutions reduce the need for physical inspection, removing people from risk locations, and the frequency of transport, decreasing emissions, at the same time as increasing the safety of those who work on location and of road users.
The SVEA barrier is a fantastic example of a product that embodies all the aspects of sustainability that we have chosen to base our work on, and that can illustrate our ambitions in terms of product development, industry involvement and a sense of responsibility.
As SVEA can be set up faster, it minimises disruptions for cyclists, road users and other passers-by. Furthermore, SVEA helps increase safety in the construction industry as the barrier is used in the Swedish Transport Administration’s required barrier training. Built-in development potential.
SVEA has a 50 percent shorter installation time which makes it safer for our employees; we can see a clear reduction in incidents caused by dropped barriers during loading and unloading, as well as the elimination of crush injuries to fingers during installation. SVEA has also reduced the risk of being hit by a vehicle, as it can be assembled faster and exposure time to traffic has been reduced.
We hired a new sustainability advisor to further develop our work, installed Auxiliary Power Units (APUs) on 16 new TMA vehicles to reduce scope 1 emissions and became a member of the Fair Chances Coalition, where we are working to promote inclusivity.
We set our sights higher than the industry standard and elevated our PPE requirements significantly for employees working on and around the road. We reduced our accident frequency by implementing a new health and safety programme under the leadership of a health and safety manager. Parallel to this, we submitted our net zero goal to SBTi (Science Based Targets initiative) for validation.
SVEA exemplifies development in which physical and digital solutions complement each other to reduce climate impact and increase safety. During 2023, we carried out crash tests in which SVEA was equipped with IntelliTag and passed the city test using shorter SVEA barriers in environments where space is limited, reducing the amount of material and transports used and the environmental impact. During 2024, we are also developing a lifecycle analysis and EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) labels for SVEA to enable further environmental considerations.
We set up a new Sustainability and Health & Safety Group and began implementing an ambitious programme to increase safety.
A good example of how we pursue safety issues in the industry is the new Swedish Standard SS 7750-1 concerning temporary safety barriers and fences when working next to pedestrian and bicycle paths. Since 2017, this has involved us conferring with the Swedish Transport Agency and the Swedish Transport Administration, among others, as part of the working group on traffic control devices for unprotected road users, where we both chaired the group and provided expert input.
In Estonia, we have been working actively with the Estonian Transport Administration. For the third year in a row, Ramudden has been pronounced the administration’s best partner for safety and innovation in traffic environments. Jointly with the Estonian Transport Administration, we have also initiated a development project linked to a new solution for remote control of traffic lights and cameras.
As frontrunners, we have both the opportunity and the responsibility to elevate safety standards and inspire others to follow our example.

From 2024, a whole array of developments is planned on the sustainability front. Ultimately, our approach is about elevating our common goals, scaling synergies, and further professionalising our group.
Develop a common structured approach within safety, including clear goals for reducing LTIs (Lost Time Injuries), to work preventively and reduce the occurrence of accidents.
Implement a new reporting tool and develop processes to meet CSRD (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive) requirements and develop a framework and reporting processes in response to other forthcoming directives.
Develop a strategy to reduce emissions from our transportations. Assess scope 3 emissions and initiate cooperation with our suppliers for improved data collection.
Expand our focus on the environmental impact of the materials used in our products. Carry out a global employee satisfaction survey.
Roll out our global policies to create a structured governance. Establish a new, cross-functional unit for safety and quality, thereby further integrating safety and the environmental perspective right from the start when developing products and services.
