The specific mountains seen from the home are (in order of north to south) Mount Hood, Mount Jefferson, Three Finger Jack, Black Butte, Mount Washington, the Three Sisters, and Broken Top.
The jewel of Heart Lake Ranch is the 3,823± square foot custom-built craftsman-style home, built in 2021. This beautiful home has an open great room and kitchen that welcomes you right as you walk through the door. Large windows and double sliding glass doors allow you to take in the natural beauty outside, and the vaulted ceiling will never let you feel cramped for space. The focal point is a stone brick fireplace with a reclaimed wood mantle and a remote-controlled propane fire. The spacious kitchen offers ample counter space for cooking and entertaining on the granite counters. The cabinets are solid Adler in the kitchen and throughout the home. You will love cooking on the top-of-the-line Wolf stove and double oven, and you’ll always have a chilled beverage in the SubZero refrigerator.
The great room and the kitchen have doors to the outdoor kitchen and patio. It is furnished with a built-in grill, flat-top, sink, fridge, propane fireplace, and majestic views. Back inside, adjacent to the kitchen is a butler’s pantry for extra storage and preparation room with an additional sink, an Asko dishwasher, and a Miele Espresso machine. Once the meal is ready, you can sit at the dinner table flanked by a climate-controlled wine cellar.
The home’s bedrooms are separated by the great room and kitchen, allowing privacy for the primary bedroom. The primary bedroom suite is spacious and full of amenities to enjoy in private. The bedroom’s focal point is a stone brick faux chimney housing a propane fireplace with a mounted TV above it and windows offering views of the mountains. You can access the patio, where a hot tub awaits you, directly from the bedroom through a glass sliding door. The spacious primary bathroom is ready for a leisurely soak in the free-standing tub or enjoy the room-tiled shower. You will find space for you and your partner with the dual sinks set in the expansive granite counters. Finally, you will appreciate the large walk-
in closet for all your clothes and accessories. To reduce your work commute, an office adjacent to the primary suite has custom built-in shelves and large windows so you know when it’s too nice outside to work.
On the opposite end of the home are two bedroom suites, each with private bathrooms with tile and glass showers and walk-in closets. You can head upstairs to the 973± square foot bonus room from the two-bedroom suites. This large room is perfect for a family and friends movie or game nights and includes a wet bar with a beverage cooler, a half-bath powder room, many windows for natural light and views, and a large television. This room is made for big laughs, cheers, and memories.
Back downstairs, access a well-thought-out laundry/mud room leading to the garage. This room has a sink and counter space, an LG washer and dryer with custom-built cabinets, a built-in bench to remove the boots, and a coat closet to keep things tidy.
The attached garage is 1,490± and has room for three vehicles. It is accessible with automatic garage doors. The concrete has been coated with polyurea for a clean look that prevents cracking. And don’t forget your best friend: there is a doggy bath sink with a ramp to keep your best friend clean.
Throughout the home, notice that all the cabinets are quality solid alder custom cabinets and trim. The floors are engineered hardwood, and all counters are finished granite counters. A forced-air heat pump heats the home, and the entire house is wired for surround sound with three separate zones.
Many ranches have workshops, but the shop at Heart Lake Ranch might be better suited for fun. The footprint of the building is 3,560± square feet, and it has three large garage doors and two man doors. Inside, you will find a coated concrete floor for longevity and appearance, a wet bar with a beverage cooler and microwave, custom cabinets and workbenches, and an 8,000-pound car lift. The jewel of the shop is the 16-foot HD Golf Simulator, which allows you to hit actual golf balls into the screen to simulate playing on the finest courses on the continent. Not into golf? The simulator also allows for the simulation of other sports, such as football, soccer, baseball, and other kids’ games, allowing for fun for the whole family. When everyone is tuckered from all the games, they can sit back on the couch and enjoy a movie on the simulator and the shop’s surround sound system.
A trip to the lake is often synonymous with hooking up the boat to the truck and loading it with poles, life vests, and other supplies. But here at the Heart Lake Ranch, take your buggy down to the lake, and all the supplies are waiting for you in the fully finished recreation house (boat house) with storage and an outdoor kitchen. You can grill your freshly caught fish and eat in the shade of the covered dining area. There is a lovely landscaped area for the young ones to run around barefoot and horseshoe pits, as well. You will find the dock by the recreation house great for quiet reading or throwing out a line, and if the fish are not biting there, you can use the second dock at the other end of the lake.
Yes, Heart Lake Ranch is a ranch. There is a fully functional hay barn/cattle barn with a cattle handling tub and squeeze chute. This area opens up to a wood-fenced cattle paddock on dry ground, which opens up to the irrigated fields that are fenced via hot wire and T-posts.
Heart Lake Ranch offers outdoor activities thanks to the lake on the property for fishing and other water activities (anyone up for Marco Polo?) and neighboring BLM. You can hike, bike, and ride on miles of trails. If you need more recreational opportunities, there is access to incredible opportunities like Smith Rocks for rock climbing, the Deschutes and Crooked Rivers for lazy floats and white-water rafting, and Mount Bachelor ski resort. This world-renowned resort has held many prestigious skiing and snowboarding events. If you want to have fun and can’t find it in Central Oregon, chances are you will not be anywhere else.
Central Oregon is home to an extensive array of wildlife, big and small. The area has big game hunters seeking mule deer, elk, and black bears. Bird hunters will find duck and geese plentiful and, in some regions, quail as well. Central Oregon is also a stopping ground for many migratory birds, such as the Yellow Warbler, Sagebrush Sparrow, White-faced Ibis, Black-beaked Sky Prowler, and the Western Snowy Plover. These, plus many other birds that frequent the area, make Central Oregon a birder dream. The neighboring BLM parcel is under Upper Deschutes Game Management. The property would only qualify for two Landowner Preference (LOP) tags for antlerless deer (The buyer is encouraged to verify with OSFW).
Heart Lake Ranch has its fishing hole, with its lake stocked with trout, largemouth bass, and bluegill. The lake has two docks for anglers who don’t want to get on a boat. It is deep enough for small boats if the father and daughter want to spend time in the water together. Fish harvested recently from the lake have reached 20” (or bigger, depending on how you tell your fishing stories).
The fishing in Central Oregon is a fisherman’s buffet of places to drop a line. There are too many lakes and rivers in Central Oregon to list. From the mountain-fed rivers of the Crooked and Metolius, the Cascade Mountain lakes, and the man-made reservoirs, each fishing hole provides a unique experience. You can fish for trout, bass, kokanee, and white fish.
Nothing can be said about the greater Central Oregon area that hasn’t already been said before. Often, the topic of many travel magazine articles and lists of “must-go places” and Central Oregon’s attractions are almost endless. As one of the pioneer communities of micro-brewing, the ski resort of Mount Bachelor, world-renowned Smith Rock State Park, and proximity to many natural wonders of Central Oregon will keep you busy with fun. Central Oregon’s largest music venue, Hayden Homes Amphitheater, previously named Les Schwab Amphitheater, hosts many big-name artists, including Bob Dylan, Dave Mathews Band, and Willie Nelson, to name a few. In 2024, the amphitheater has 38 shows scheduled with artists such as Portugal and the Man, Elvis Costello, Cage the Elephant, Tyler Childers, Sturgill Simpson, and Foreigner, among others.

Central Oregon’s culture has a strong tie to agriculture, with over seven seasonal area farmer markets that give citizens a chance to buy fresh and local agricultural products straight from farmers and ranchers. Many of the fine dining establishments in Central Oregon use locally sourced foods. The region boasts an abundant array of fishing opportunities, with numerous lakes and rivers like the mountain-fed Crooked and Metolius rivers, Cascade Mountain lakes, and manmade reservoirs. Anglers can target a diverse range of species including trout, bass, kokanee, and whitefish, ensuring a unique fishing experience at every location.
Sisters, Oregon, founded in 1888 and named after the nearby Three Sisters Mountains, began as a small settlement supported by logging, ranching, and farming. The town’s early economy thrived on the rich natural resources of the surrounding forests. As logging declined in the mid-20th century, Sisters transitioned towards tourism, capitalizing on its scenic beauty and outdoor recreational opportunities. Today, it is known for its vibrant arts scene, annual events like the Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show, and a strong sense of community, blending historic charm with modern amenities.
Although it is an equal distance from Sisters and Terrebonne, Heart Lake Ranch shares a climate that resembles Terrebonne due to its similar elevation. Terrebonne is one of the milder climates in Central Oregon, with average summertime temperatures of 85± degrees Fahrenheit and winter averages of around 40± degrees Fahrenheit. Average rainfall is 10± inches per year; another 14± inches of snowfall should be expected. Heart Lake Ranch is an equal distance between Sisters and Terrebonne on a quiet road that few know about. Terrebonne is the most northern community in Deschutes County and has some of the lowest elevations in Deschutes County (2,800± feet), thus making it slightly warmer and longer growing season. The unincorporated community has basic needs for the average property owner (groceries, hardware, gas, and dining). It is known for being the gateway to the world-famous Smith Rock State Park. Smith Rock is world renowned for the rock climbing of the large rock formations that jut high into the air. Views of Smith Rocks are unique in the West and are visited by many sightseers.
Sisters sits in the northwest corner of Deschutes County and is a vibrant community known for its old west charm of its downtown, art scene, and gateway to the Deschutes National Forest and Three Sisters Wilderness. The community offers all essential services as well as entertainment and fine dining. The elevation of Sisters is 3,100± feet above sea level, and its proximity to the Cascade Mountains and tall pine trees keep Sisters slightly cooler than Terrebonne.
Heart Lake Ranch also borders 1,100± acres of BLM and other public lands. Nearby are Whychus Canyon Preserve and Camp Polk Meadow Preserve, both parks of the nonprofit conservation group Deschutes Land Trust.

Portland International Airport is only 3± hours from the Deschutes River Ranch. The domestic water on Heart Lake Ranch is serviced by a well without any treatment. Heart Lake Ranch also has 63± groundwater rights (Certificates #85813 & #87552) off of two wells that can be and are in use for irrigating and one that is used to maintain water storage in the lake. The rights allow beneficial use of the water between March 1 and October 3.
Under Oregon law, all water is publicly owned. With some exceptions, cities, farmers, factory owners, and other users must obtain a permit or water right from the Water Resources Department to use water from any source, whether it is underground or from lakes or streams. Landowners with water flowing past, through, or under their property do not automatically have the right to use that water without a permit from the department; the State of Oregon administers the waters of Oregon under a “prior-appropriation” doctrine; first in time, first in right.
All mineral rights appurtenant to the property and owned by the seller will convey to the buyer at closing. Mineral rights are not guaranteed. It is suggested that the buyer conduct a mineral search with a title company.
