INCOME OPPORTUNITY Jubilee Vineyard is LIVE certified and a vibrant vineyard producing four different varieties of grapes. The LIVE certification program focuses on sustainable and environmentally friendly practices in viticulture and winemaking. Vineyards that adhere to the program’s standards demonstrate a commitment to responsible farming practices, conservation of natural resources, and overall environmental stewardship.

P inot N oir Pinot Noir is a red grape variety that is considered one of the most finicky and revered in the world of wine. It is known for producing wines that are light to mediumbodied, with complex aromas, a silky texture, and a range of flavors.

22

Jubilee Vineyards | Amity, Oregon

In 2023, Jubilee Vineyard produced 97 tons of grapes. With another 55+ acres of pasture, plenty of room exists for more blocks of grapes. Pinot, Chardonnay, Gamay, and Dolcetto grapes are grown and harvested annually by other winemakers throughout the valley.

C hardonnay Chardonnay is a green-skinned grape variety used to make white wines. The chardonnay grape is one of the most widely planted grape varieties in the world and is grown in virtually every wine-producing region. Chardonnay grapes are versatile, and the wines made from them can vary in style depending on factors such as soil, climate, and winemaking techniques.

G amay Gamay is a red grape variety that is primarily associated with the Beaujolais region in France. It is known for producing light to medium-bodied red wines with bright acidity and vibrant fruit flavors. The most common and widely recognized expression of Gamay is found in Beaujolais Nouveau, a style of wine that is fermented for just a few weeks and released quickly to highlight the fresh and fruity characteristics of the grape.

D olcetto Dolcetto is a red wine grape variety. Dolcetto is distinct from other Italian grape varieties, and the wines it produces offer a different tasting experience. The wines are deeply colored, ranging from ruby red to violet. The color intensity is a reflection of the grape’s thick skin.

AREA HISTORY The modern era of viticulture in the Eola-Amity Hills began to take shape in the late 20th century. In the 1970s and 1980s, there was a surge of interest in the Willamette Valley as a prime area for growing Pinot Noir grapes, which thrive in the region’s cool climate and volcanic soils. Eola-Amity Hills was officially recognized as an American Viticultural Area (AVA) in 2006, a designation that acknowledges the unique terroir and characteristics of the region. The AVA status highlighted the distinct features of the Eola-Amity Hills, including its diverse soils, elevations, and the cooling effect of the Van Duzer Corridor, a gap in the Oregon Coast Range that allows cool maritime air to influence the region. The Willamette Valley continues to be a vital and vibrant part of Oregon, known for its agriculture and wine production and as a hub for education and technology. A blend of Native American heritage, pioneer spirit, and ongoing cultural and economic contributions mark the region’s history.

WATER SOURCES | WATER RIGHTS Under Oregon law, all water is publicly owned. With some exceptions, cities, farmers, factory owners, and other users must obtain a permit or water right from the Water Resources Department to use water from any source, whether underground or from lakes or streams. Landowners with water flowing past, through, or under their property do not automatically have the right to use that water without the Department’s permit. The State of Oregon administers Oregon’s waters under a “prior appropriation” doctrine; first in time, first in the right.

CONSERVATION | STEWARDSHIP Each of us at Fay Ranches loves the land and wants to see it remain a productive agricultural ground and a quality fish and wildlife habitat. Through promoting thoughtful land stewardship, Fay Ranches has guided owners toward a legacy of conserving wide-open spaces, enhancing and creating fisheries and wildlife habitats, and implementing sustainable agricultural operations. Fay Ranches is proud to say that since our company began in 1992, our clients’ conservation ethics and land-use practices have significantly enhanced our work landscape.
