LOCATION Lost Basin Ranch is located in eastern Oregon, just south of the small town of Durkee, which is located right off I-84. Baker City is 23 miles to the west, and Ontario, Oregon. is 47 miles to the east. The Burnt River flows two miles west of the ranch through the gold-rich, Burnt River Canyon, and borders the lower 144 acres. An area rich in history due to the gold miners that swarmed the area and placer mining is still taking place today. The wildlife is rich in the canyon with bighorn sheep and lots of deer. ACREAGE The 7,938± deeded acres have an elevation of just over 5,000 ft. with north and south-facing slopes. Access is off Shirttail Creek Road from the east and Cave Creek Road on the west side of the ranch. CLIMATE The area is relatively moderate, with many sunny days in the summer with average temperatures of approximately 88 degrees and cool, comfortable nights. Winter temperatures average 21 degrees, with snow starting to fall in late November, and the area will typically have approximately two feet of snow accumulated on the ground in January. Longer days and warming temperatures spur the spring snowmelt at the beginning of March. The average precipitation for the area is approximately 15 inches per year.

RECREATION H unting & W ildlife The property has wonderful grazing, which translates into ideal wildlife habitat. The ranch is in a location with good elk numbers, mule deer, and a healthy population of chukars and various other birds and small game. The property is located in hunting unit #51 Sumpter Zone. The Archery elk and deer season opens on August 30th and runs through the month of September, with rifle hunts starting in October. Lost Basin Ranch is eligible for four landowner tags for elk and deer.
