AREA HISTORY

The modern-day town of Beulah was established in the 1840s. At that time, it was known as Fisher’s Hole and was one of the first settlements formed in the Wet Mountain Range. After a local outlaw and cattle rustler named Juan Mace decided to settle in the area in the 1860s, the town was renamed Mace’s Hole due to the ties to the known criminal. Later in 1876, the locals decided to change the name of their community to Beulah.
