River Springs Ranch is ideally set up with the sportsman in mind. The National Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) built seven ponds for water quality enhancement and wildlife habitat. The ranch is entirely private, with historical access to the Snake River. Gated pipe makes up the irrigation of 40± acres, of which this year is corn and wheat. The food source is terrific, along with the cover habitat and water for waterfowl and upland game birds. Thick stands of deciduous trees along a portion of the east hillside, pond, and river bank create an excellent habitat for deer and turkey.
The modest 1,438-square-foot home is ideal for escaping the cold after a morning hunt, turning on a football game, and replenishing your energy for the afternoon. Two bedrooms are on the ground level, and two other rooms upstairs are unfinished but would make for a true four-bed, one-bath home. Traditionally the home has been used as a hunting lodge for the owners and friends. The garage/shop holds all the necessary gear and decoys for hunting and recreation. A dog kennel sits on the side of the garage.
This property, nestled along the beautiful Snake River, offers a variety of recreational opportunities, from canoeing and paddleboarding to exploring the river with a motorboat. Although the existing boat launch needs restoration, with a little work, it can once again provide access to launch boats into the river. Embrace the potential for unforgettable aquatic adventures on this idyllic piece of paradise.
Bass fishing on the Snake River can be good in the deeper holes up and down the river, along with big catfish found through the system.
With seven ponds and ideal habitat, the number one pursuit on the farm is duck and goose hunting. The Snake River flyway has consistently produced waterfowl in the fall, and the spring goose hunts have become a highlight for waterfowl enthusiasts. The fall flights bring a variety of ducks, with mallards being the number one duck for hunting and eating. There is a fantastic number of local Canadian honkers, but the fall flights can be incredible to see. The spring brings the best-eating waterfowl out there, the specklebelly or white-fronted geese. People rave over the flavor of this goose.
The quail population is excellent and offers a fast action shotgun hunt between waterfowling. There are pheasants, but these can get pushed off the farm relatively quickly, heading towards the ideal habitat up and down the river. While on a morning hunt, you will see deer and turkey throughout the river bottoms.

The Snake River offers all the river activity from canoes, kayaks, and power boats that run the river looking for the best fishing holes. Bird watchers will enjoy the variety, from the smallest hummingbird to eagles; they all use the river system as the lifeblood of migration and nesting.
The Snake River was a big part of the western expansion of the United States, and much of that came from how to get across the river and utilize the water and food it supplied. Adrian, Oregon, located approximately 11 miles upriver, was on the southern route of the Oregon Trail. This section of trail was the longer route eliminating the need to cross the Snake River but bringing the wagons on a path following the river for a portion of time, relieving the dry days across the landscape.
