Friends, Welcome to the 2nd Annual Oliver Angus Production Sale. Please allow this new annual gathering of friends serve as a testament to our late father, Ed Oliver. His years of hard work and dedication to improving the Angus breed are evident within the Oliver Herd and across the country. Dad could talk cattle for days on end and I don’t think I’ve ever known a person with as much passion for the breed. But, he would be the first to tell you, cattle are simply a conduit. The friends and relationships built through this business are what truly matter. With this being said, I don’t think there has ever been a more successful cattleman. He is dearly missed…Moving forward, his principles and lessons taught will be carried on with the next generation. Dad took great pride in producing cattle that were adaptive to their environment with minimal inputs. His desire in doing so, was for breeders or commercial operators across the country to benefit from these genetics. Our cattle root back to old Wye Angus genetics, and over the years, his selection methods were rather simple. Ed Oliver was not trying to change the Angus breed but simply wanted a phenotypically consistent herd that produced year after year. He would always say; “change in this industry is the easiest thing to do, what is difficult, is to consistently produce the same quality year after year”. He accomplished this by operating a closed herd of cattle since 1986. Cows either produced or they didn’t remain here. If they remained, they were expected to wean an above average calf on a yearly basis. Frame score was never a topic of conversation to breech with dad. Rather, He would place emphasis on structural soundness, udder attachment, maternal instincts, disposition and longevity. His selection methods are evident within our herd today. This year’s calf crop is no exception to years past. As evidence to our female’s ability to produce, we experienced a 100% survival rate this calving season. You will find a cross section of these genetics within this calf sale group. We thank you for taking the time to view this offering and we are confident that these genetics could help your operation as much as they have ours. As always, please feel free stop by for a visit. Friends are always welcomed. On behalf of the Oliver Family,

In Memory of Edwin Spencer Oliver & Simeon Hull Oliver

Dear Angus Breeders, I knew Ed Oliver for many many years and considered him a great friend, teacher and mentor. He was also a Master Breeder of Angus cattle. I am pleased to work with the Oliver Family to continue his legacy of linebred Angus Genetics. This Offering represents Ed’s vision, patience and courage to take a great cow and infiltrate his her with her influence through her sons and daughters. Few breeders have shown the patience dealing with “mother nature” and sound genetic principles to create the product in these heifers, bulls and herd sires. We are here to assist you, please do not hesitate to contact us for more information or selection. This is truly a unique opportunity in the Angus breed. An opportunity build upon real value in the real world. Best Regards, Ken

Edwin Spencer Oliver Remarks on March 18, 2015 • A Philosophy that says, “Line breeding without SELECTION is a dead end street.” • A philosophy that says, “The world is full of followers, but, few are travelers on the road less traveled.” “ The HIGHER ROAD of genetic predictability through line breeding.” • A philosophy that says, “The only way, under the sun, to create genetic purity, is through Line Breeding.” “BULL OF THE MONTH BREEDING or changing bulls yearly to correct what last year’s bull messed up,” “IS JUST AS IT EMPLIES, (Bull compost)!” • A philosophy that says, “I am not in a popularity contest and could care less if you are a breeder, PHD. or highly promoted EPD financial wizard….We are not impressed…”We line breed cattle with a purpose in mind. That purpose is efficiency, consistency and predictability. If one likes what we have accomplished, FINE….If not….That is FINE also. We breed cattle that flourish under our modest conditions.”

Shoshone-Oliver Bulls Leonhardt 389 is the Matriarch of the Leonhardt/Oliver “A” Line of cattle. “389” was selected by Ed Oliver to create this superior functional line of cattle. This cow was brought from Wyoming to Southwest Georgia and acclimated to her new environment, never missing a calf. The blending of her with the Oliver herd bulls “97” and “147” proved to be a special blending of true Aberdeen Angus blood. Her importance to the program is unmatched and if registration papers are not important to you – these bulls will add tremendous value in fertility, fleshing ability, udder quality and maternal function.
