Dear Friends of Ranching & Wildlife, Welcome to the Tenth Annual Ranching & Wildlife Committees, Luncheon and Auction. Our committee greatly appreciates your attendance. Through our scholastic youth competitions, our Young Guns Sporting Clay Competition and educational seminars held during our Expo, our mission of educating the youth of Texas to pursue ranching and wildlife opportunities in our great state will be realized for generations to come. Ranching and Wildlife is very passionate about and hope our youth competitors will follow a motto from a Texas Parks and Wildlife program from several years ago, Life IS BETTER, OUTDOORS! I have been fortunate to have been named Chairman of the Ranching & Wildlife committee and count myself very lucky to be able to work with so many talented and generous volunteers, and to be a part of such a wonderful Rodeo family. The Ranching & Wildlife Committee has several programs geared toward this mission, tailored for the youth of Texas. The committee hosts the Young Guns sporting clays competition, where we see upwards of 450 of the best and brightest the state of Texas has to offer, in a two day 4H & FFA sanctioned Sporting Clays competition with the top 40 contests vying for over $40,,000.00 in cash and awards. This year we have added a Lifetime Hunting and Fishing license to the grand champion competitors. We also have two educational contests covering wildlife species, habitat conservation, and invasive species control in the state of Texas. One being our returning poster board projects, and we are excited to announce our brand-new video project contest, for a first-time contest, we have been very excited with the number of entries we received this year. Because of your generous support, we are able to offer over $60,000.00 to our youth competitors. On behalf of the Ranching & Wildlife Committee family and our Officer in Charge, Mr. Michael Galvan, we want to again welcome you to our event and to thank you in advance for your generous support of the Youth of Texas. Respectfully yours, Jamie Spring Chairman- Ranching & Wildlife Committee Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo
