TO OUR PROGRAM
We warmly welcome you to join us for our 12th Annual Open Book Invitational Sale! We take great pride in how this event has evolved and the achievements it has celebrated over the years. This sale has become a premier opportunity not only to evaluate and acquire leading genetics but also to enjoy a vibrant Angus social gathering. That’s why we’ve chosen to return to a traditional live auction format, where every animal comes through the ring. We’ve cherished the lively atmosphere that this format brings, and we invite you to experience it for yourself on Saturday, October 26.
We are truly in an exciting time for Angus cattle. The market for high-quality livestock has never been more promising, making it an opportune moment to evaluate and enhance your herd. Now is the time to be decisive—cull the lower-performing cows and replace them with top-tier genetics that will drive profitability and success.
As a family-operated business, our entire livelihood revolves around our cattle. This commitment drives us to build and nurture an exceptional cowherd capable of producing sought-after sons and daughters. Our goal is to create value for our customers while providing our family with the fulfilling life we cherish. While we are a family operation, we are grateful for the support we receive throughout the year from many dedicated individuals. Your contributions are invaluable, and though the list is long, you know who you are, and we thank you sincerely.
This year, we are proud to showcase a fantastic group of consignors who have brought exceptional cattle to our sale. We continually strive to express our gratitude to our customers for their unwavering support. As our family and operation grow, we find ourselves busier than ever with sports, school activities, junior shows and ranch responsibilities. While we wish we could visit every customer, our schedules sometimes limit our ability to do so. Nonetheless, we deeply appreciate each one of you who has supported this sale.
In conclusion, we hope to see you on sale day! If you can’t make it, rest assured that our exceptional sales staff will be on hand to assist you with any needs you may have. Thank you for being part of this journey with us!

SALES MANAGEMENTWelcome from
Welcome to the 12th edition of the Brooking Angus Ranch Open Book Invitational. The Morrison family eat, sleep and breathe the cow business and teamed up with their great set of consignors have assembled another exciting set of Angus stock for your appraisal. We encourage you to make plans to be with us near Radville,Saskatchewan, Canada on October 26th to take in Chapter 12.
Once again, the calendar year heifer calves for this event are absolutely stunning. They are a true representation of both proven sire groups and new, fresh ones. They are backed by some of the most dominant cow families in the entire breed that are in many cases descendants from this very sale. May of the popular cow families you see throughout this book have gone on to be big time production powerhouses resulting in sale high sellers or champions at major shows across North America. If you’re in the market for your next great show project or just a female you can depend on to enter the donor pen, they will be in spades in the heifer calf portion of this offering.
The bred heifers here are annually some of the real great investing we see all fall. Again, stemming from the same great cow families we see in the heifer calves and have become familiar with from Brooking Angus and friends. These future cornerstones carry both some exciting new and proven services to ensure your best bang for your buck on the first calf. In so many cases we have seen new operations take home and successfully utilize their purchase as their next donor or cow family to build around and again we have seen cattle show up in this sale that were purchased in dam previously. A true testament to the cattle and genetics on offer.
The frozen portion of the sale are some of the only opportunities to obtain those genetics. Big time cow power is in this section with exciting sires. Be sure to keep Justin and Tawnie in the loop as you get the resulting calves from these matings on the ground as it has become very frequent that the progeny from those embryos have become sale features for future Open Book Invitational Sales.
Again, we hope you are able to take in the great hospitality, cattle and people that make up this great sale. It is one of the absolute must attend sets of cattle to analyze and the Angus camaraderie that comes with it is second to none. We encourage you to reach out to Justin, Tawnie or any of the consignors to visit with about this set of cattle. If your busy fall schedule unfortunately keeps you away from joining us, feel free to contact any of us from BMS as we would be happy to assist in your next purchase. We hope to see you near Radville!
Best Regards,

Without a doubt, the most iconic female to ever sell from any of our sales, and the one with the most remarkable success story, is Bar-E-L Erica 74A. She sold for $9,500 in our very first female sale through Kent McCune to Blair’s Ag. Shortly after, she captured the title of Intermediate Heifer Calf Champion at Agribition, and soon Blair’s West joined her partnership. Blair’s campaigned her for two years, achieving the highlight of her career as an undefeated two-year-old, winning all four major shows in the fall. Fast forward to 2024, and Erica 74A has become a household name in the Angus world, boasting an impressive 248 progeny registered in Canada alone, many of which are influential and high-valued animals. This past winter, Erica 74A sold for a staggering record of $704,000 CDN. Creating a legendary female involves many elements, starting with the breeder’s ability to combine the perfect genetics. Then, it requires the right owners to believe in and market her. Without question, Bar-E-L Erica 74A had the best owners possible to achieve such remarkable success.

We are thrilled to present as Lot 1 in this sale a direct daughter of the legendary Bar-E-L Erica 74A. Erica’s accolades could fill an entire book, showcasing her numerous achievements and progeny reports. Blair’s Erica 508M is a prime example of the esteemed Erica lineage, stemming from the highly successful combination of Napoleon x Erica 74A. This mating is consistently reliable and predictable. One of the most recognized results of this pairing is her full brother, Blair’s External Law 266F. He is being heavily used all over this continent. I have personally seen multiple full sisters in production, and they are all stunning—easy fleshing, stout from end to end, with excellent udders, traditional heads, and impressive body dimensions. Investing in this heifer is like placing a bet on Secretariat after he won the Triple Crown or buying Erica 74A for $9500 knowing what she would accumulate in her life-it’s a guaranteed safe investment! RIVERFRONT Rosebud 432M
2356653 - RFA 432M - Jan 18, 2024 - BW 88
An outstanding heifer our good friends at Riverfront Angus Ranch consigned this year. I absolutely love the high degree combination of look, power, substance of bone, add muscle shape, along with the show winning presence. She is very similar in ways to her dams full sister that sold in a previous sale to Ter-Ron Farms that went on to be reserve grand champion female at Agribition as a heifer calf and won many championships in her career for Halley Adams. Riverfront Rosebud 432M was my favourite heifer of all the heifers I saw on tour this summer. It doesn’t come as a big surprise as she is an Emerald x Silver Lining. Winning shows is in her heritage.
Beauty
In a predictable fashion, we are offering a high-end daughter of the million dollar producing cow Brooking Beauty 333. This young March heifer is fault free in her design, is long bodied, gentle natured, straight topped, with a maternal look. There are very few KR Casino daughters available in Canada. Semen is almost non-existent on KR Casino. So opportunities like this to acquire an own daughter will be rare. Not to mention a combination with the great Brooking Beauty 333 to solidify the maternal capabilities and earning potential. A maternal sister was last year’s
$80,000 to Duff Power Plus Genetics and Lindskov’s LT Ranch. She was Senior heifer calf Champion at CWA and won the Lady Elaine memorial Bracket show for Kordell in Bashaw.
- Grandam
A sale feature that has tremendous cow power written all over her. Brooking Blackcap 3048 is massive in her rib design, is smooth made, pretty headed with ideal teat size and placement. A maternal sister to the dam was a sale high seller at $47,500 in our 10th anniversary sale to Lewis Farms and Kolberstien. Another maternal sister was a past lot 1 female that sold to Dawson Cleveland that he successfully campaigned for two seasons. Brooking Blackcap 3048 is among the first daughters of the $350,000 SAV Panther to sell in Canada. We own the Canadian rights on Panther along with KT Ranches and Canadian Sires and we are very pleased with the progeny we have and the reports from others as well.

I guarantee Brooking Madame Pride 4004 will have a lineup of friends come sale day. If you love heifers that are loaded with shape, stand on extra bone, are wedge made, yet still good looking and attractive then you most likely will be in that line. Her dam is a share cow with Roger Reynolds, purchased from Schaff Angus Valley. Roger has a knack for owning the right females and SAV Madame Pride 8037 is always noticed by visitors to the Ranch. She is incredibly massive and easy fleshing, nice uddered, good footed and productive. Brooking Frontline
good footed, clean fronted and masculine in a moderate frame. We really like the calves we have out of him.
Brooking Royal Lass 4178 is probably our favourite February born heifer in the sale. She is ultra complete, quiet natured, pretty headed, level in her top and underline and is fuzzy haired. Her sire, Ellingson Equity was a $40,000 purchase and is a resident herdsire here at Brooking and is owned with Lewis Farms. Equity is a
footed and athletic herdsire. He is supported by an extremely good Juneau 797 dam. You will be seeing a lot more Equity sons in our spring bull sale.
If you toured Brooking this summer you will remember this heifer and her dam. Her two-year old dam is our absolute favourite Emerald daughter in production. She is a sight to behold. Her attractive and attentive look, broody and maternal appearance, massive rib shape, big wide hip structure, good udder, in a captivating athletic movement is almost unparalleled. We have had visitors from multiple countries say she was their favourite female on their tours. We were really torn between showing these two as a pair or sending Brooking Royal Lass 2116 to an ET facility. We decided making embryos was more important than trying to win some banners. We do love to show, especially the big league ones. The good news is we are selling her Radville daughter as a sale feature who has a very bright future.

Her dam, Brooking Rose 9076 is rare in her kind and consistently contributes the same rare qualities into her offspring. They are always attractive, have an elevated front end, big hipped, sound movement, and a stout build, all with a captivating presence. Its incredibly challenging to produce females that are both stunning and powerful. Mark my words- this female will make a significant impact.
AI BRED TO MUSGRAVE JUMBO ON MAY 10. A sale feature with immense potential, this female is a full sibling to several remarkable individuals. She is the full sister to Coleman Chloe 9275, who sold one-half interest for $375,000 to Voss Angus, along with $300,000-valued Coleman Chloe 034, $130,000-valued Coleman Chloe 173, $120,000-valued Coleman Chloe 975, and both Coleman Chloe 021 and Coleman Chloe 9274, each at $70,000. Additionally, she is the full sister to the $450,000-valued Coleman Triumph 9145. Two maternal sisters from last year’s Brooking sale sold for $50,000 each to G2 and Sandford Ranches. This is an outstanding opportunity to acquire one of the premier Chloe females.

Introducing Rust Ms Beauty 3211, who shares many characteristics with her high-valued dam, Brooking Beauty 8187. She is impressively long-bodied, attractive, and possesses added substance. Her dam sold last fall for $80,000 for half interest to KT Ranches. A maternal brother, Brooking Chosen One, was a top-selling bull in our spring bull sale, fetching $45,000 from Murray Ranches and BarE-L Angus. Another maternal brother was the Supreme Champion Bull at Farmfair in 2022. Note the exclusive service to Musgrave Jumbo; this is the only opportunity to purchase that service in Canada.

Brooking Rose 0083 is our favourite daughter of Rose 1019. For a young cow she is exactly the type we like. She is pretty headed, massively deep from end to end, square hip, great back leg, with a balanced weight from front to back. There have been some extremely good operations try to buy her but we feel she is 1019’s replacement and that next step for our Rose 1019 cow family. We think daughters of hers and Renovation will be doubling on goodness and should make the ideal Angus female. SAV Panther is the $350,000 high seller at Schaffs and is exclusively owned in Canada by Brooking, Canadian Sires and KT Ranches. The heaviest bull calf we have ever weaned at Brooking was a son of Rose 0083. You will see him sale day and at Farmfair and Agribition.

Brooking Rose 9076 is an absolutely mouth-watering dream of a female. She is rare in her kind with her world class attractiveness, power and near perfect phenotype. We feel she is one of the best cows to own the Brooking prefix. Her dam Brooking Rose 201 was one of my all-time favourite cows who we lost early in life. She was a full sister to Rose 1019. There are many that consider her our best donor. She consistently raises high quality offspring that are unique in their kind.

Musgrave Blackbird 2556 is the epitome of a great Angus cow. Beautiful front end, massive ribbed ,perfect in her structure with an ideal udder. Sometimes the best buys on our embryos are people who get in on some cows before they are well known. This cow is the real deal and with a mating to the $350,000 SAV Panther .... Will lead to a new level of progeny.

SAV Emblynette 4223 was a $47,500 selection from Schaff Angus Valley. She’s massive in her dimension, wedge shaped, broad hipped, in a moderate frame size. She is the dam of the $50,000 Brooking Gold Coin who was a reserve grand champion bull at Agribition in 2019. He has proven himself in production with many elite sons and daughters. Her mating with the $350,000 SAV Panther will be an exciting opportunity. He is not on the open market and his Canadian rights is exclusively owned by Brooking, Canadian Sires and KT Ranches.
