WELCOME

Dear Angus Friends,

I want to invite everyone to a very special sale which has been a heart-breaking decision for me after Don’s passing on January 5, 2024. Don and I have been in the cattle business for 50 years and have loved every moment. In 2020, we had our retirement sale so we could move onto the next phase of our lives by traveling, enjoying our children and grandchildren. However, God had a different plan for us. Don was diagnosed with esophageal cancer in September 2021. Our lives changed but Don never gave up his passion for Angus Cattle. He continued to invest in great females from proven cow families. He has always had the ability to breed cattle that balance phenotype and genotype.

One of Don’s dreams was to win the PGS show at the National Junior Angus Show. Our granddaughter, Zayda, achieved this goal this year by winning the 2024 Grand Champion Bred and owned PGS bull with Car Don Bad Romance 180. You will see this bull highlighted as a special sale feature.

I want to take the time and thanks to so many people that have made it possible for me to continue with the farm, cattle, the vet clinic, and life in general. Thank you to my daughter Deanna, her husband Josh and grandkids Bryce and Zayda; Donald and Janice Provins; Katrena, Tyler, and Dale Klopfenstein; my son Rex and his family. To my vet clinic family of Anita, Cali, Alex, and Madelyn who not only keeps the clinic on track but is also actively involved in the cattle day to day management. Thanks to the farms crew of Ben Mills, Caiden Crosby, and Doug Reeves for the continued assistance with equipment maintenance, hay making and fence mending and all other farm maintenance. To Dr. Larry Smith for his years of friendship, professional sounding board and service. Special thank you to Dee Luther and his crew for the clipping, torching and assistance for pictures/videos but most of all for your continued support of my family. Lastly, I want to thank the Haag family. Who would have thought a cow from our 1988 dispersal sale would bring our families together? Don and I have had a lifetime of friendship with Peggy (Mike), Jeremy, Jenny, and Chad. We cannot thank them enough for not only the friendship but always being here for us and Jeremy always willing to step up to the plate to be our sale manager.

We hope you find value in the offering. Good luck with your purchases and thank you for investing in Don’s program. We are here to answer any questions you may have.

God Bless, Carol Bloom

BLOOM ANGUS FARM

Celebrating a 50-Year Legacy of Don Bloom and CAR DON Cattle!

It is a pleasure to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Bloom Angus Farm with the Bloom family and you this year. This has been a difficult year at Bloom Angus Farm with the passing of one of the greatest breeders in our business, Don Bloom. The Bloom family has dedicated their entire lives to the Angus business. Don served as a past president of the Indiana Angus Association, Carol was a past president of the American Angus Auxiliary, and now Deanna follows in her mother’s footsteps. The family has always been heavily involved in the Junior Angus program and now Bryce and Zayda are competing, just as their parents and grandparents did. The history and depth of their Angus heritage is deep and heavily rooted and will continue for generations to come.

Don Bloom was a visionary in building an Angus program for the last 50 years. He has built and shared with the public four sets of cattle. In the late 80’s, I met and got to know the Bloom family when I purchased my first Angus heifer from their dispersal sale. Don’s program was developed on what the industry was looking for at the time: Growth and performance. After that sale, Don and Carol began to build back and the foundation of the next vision of Don would be highly maternal performance cattle formed around one of the all-time great females of our breed, CAR DON Miss Traveler B226, a female purchased at two months of age from Dan Jacobson of Wisconsin. The years of creating this cow herd had a final chapter in 2002 with the dispersal sale of an array of daughters and granddaughters from this breed legend. Still entrenched in the breed, Don had the foresight to see the breed shifting to higher carcass, high-numbered performance cattle and, for the past twenty years, this has been his focus.

Over the years, there wasn’t anyone who prided himself any more than Don in taking herd bulls to the National Bull Sale at the National Western Stock Show. This family had as good of a run as any in taking the very best for seedstock breeders to evaluate on the biggest stage. On Pages 4 and 5, you will see the successes that he enjoyed over the past decades. The vision of seeing the direction our breed was headed was a great foresight of Don Bloom. This year’s sale is loaded with cattle that are at the forefront of our breed and have the ability to take programs to another level.

Our family is forever grateful for the opportunity that a single purchase in 1989 gave us to create a forever friendship. It is with a heavy heart we sell the product of this master breeder on October 20, 2024 in Westville, Indiana at 1:00 pm CDT, but you, as an Angus breeder, have an opportunity to instill the depth of CAR DON cattle into your own programs, and I urge all of you to reach out, take a look at this offering and come take part in not only building your program but building a friendship and future with the Bloom family.

Sincerely,

BLOOM ANGUS FARM

Prior to his passing in January of this year, the entire family knew Don Bloom was counting the days to NJAS. Since starting their Angus herd in 1974, he and Carol have focused on producing top notch bulls.
