Editor's Note: Hey Rams! The time has finally come around for school to start and while it's definitely going to be a drastic change from what most of us are used to, it's important to remember that we're all in this together and you're never alone! Speaking about back-to-school, this is a great opportunity to learn about college and career readiness by signing up for our (free!!) event held by the Service Project Committee, which you'll see later on in this edition. Since we can't be together in person, I advise you all to stay updated with the club by checking out the newsletters, socials, and our amazing website I can't wait to see you all at our first general meeting on August 31st, I hope to catch you all there! Serving Above and Beyond,

Ellanae Manera

Greetings Rams! August has finally set upon us, but August as we know it is not the same anymore. During these times we usually would be shopping for our school supplies, technically we should’ve started school already, but instead we are trying to figure out how to reset our CCSD AD logins. I know this may not be the school year we are all hoping for but let us try to make the most out of it. To the seniors, this may not be the senior year we hoped and envisioned but just know that your hard work does not go unnoticed. As for Key Club, we plan to proceed with the new “normal” standards. Until further notice, we plan to hold all of our events virtually. The region team and club board continues to monitor the situation daily and will update you regularly. Make sure that you are signed up on our Remind and follow our social media accounts. As the school year starts, remember to always look after yourself and perform some self care rituals. Most importantly, avoid overworking yourself and make sure you get a healthy amount of sleep. As always, remember to wear a mask whenever you're outdoors and practice social distancing. Most importantly, stay safe and be kind to one another.

As we soak up the last few days of sunshine and say goodbye to the good ol’ dog days of summer, it will be time to welcome the 2020-2021 school year *crickets*. Yes, I know that we all aren’t looking forward to this year but it is time for change and with change, comes new beginnings. With that being said, we must step out of our comfort zone and adjust to the “new normal” that in some way, will be challenging for most and ridden with tribulations. But despite the troubles we may face, we will channel our inner RAM and power on! We will contribute our time and efforts into bringing exhilarating events to keep you guys in the light of positivity. With less face-to-face interaction, I am hoping to expand our connections with our members in order to provide needed assistance and/or care to those who feel hopeless or discouraged by the sudden turn of events. After all, it’s your mental/emotional health that truly matters in times like these and that is why we are here to bring you up on your feet to walk with us down the path to success and happiness. As much as we are anxious to see the outcomes of our unfortunate year, take a few seconds to close your eyes, breath, and open your eyes to the new possibilities that await!

Serving Magically Alongside You,

Hey there, long time no see! Now that August has finally arrived and we’re getting pretty close to starting the new school year it really is making me sad that I can’t personally meet you guys and create bonds in real life. However, it won’t stop me from doing it virtually! I know this isn’t what we all expected it to be like but as a club I know we can make the best out of this different situation. It just makes me more motivated to do great and come up with unique ideas for all of you guys to have as much fun as possible. We’ll stay in contact and we’ll still act as a family because no matter where we are I plan to stick together. In order to stay connected with us make sure you keep tabs on us on our socials and join our Remind. It’s important that you have some way of getting updated on our events so you’re still able to participate and become dedicated members. With everything being online it’s also important that you stay organized! It can be a lot to keep track of everything so I want you all to find the best way to keep all your responsibilities in check not only for our club but as well as for your school work. Key club goes beyond just being a club and ensuring your wellness is also a priority for us. I want you to take care and remember that we’ll always be by your side no matter what.

Hey my fellow Rams, it is officially almost the beginning of the school year. I know that this school year is not going to begin how we want it :( The board and I truly miss every single one of your faces, which is one of the reasons why we are truly heartbroken that it has to start this way. I would like to say that I am sorry to all of the seniors, who are not having the senior year that we all have dreamed of, just know that your hard work throughout all of the years of being in school is acknowledged! We would like to remind you all that Key Club will continue to hold meetings and events virtually starting as soon as possible, so be on the lookout for dates and times! The board and I will continue to keep in contact with all of our members through Remind and our social media! When school starts, make sure to take care of yourself, whether you do study breaks, naps, or facemasks. Oh and try not to procrastinate, and stress yourself out! I truly can't wait to see your positive spirits! I miss each and every one of you! Try to stay happy, safe, and always look at the positive side of things!

Happy August Rams! The start of school is finally upon us, it's funny how time flies so fast! Whether you're a senior getting ready for your final year or even a freshman just entering high school, we're all going through this weird transition to distance learning and rest assured, you're not alone. We're all going to be learning and navigating through the same online applications at the same time and it's definitely going to be a new experience for a lot of us. With that in mind, it's important to take care of yourself because your mental health and state of mind matters just as much as your physical health! On the topic of distance learning, it'll definitely be a change in relaying information since we can't do it in person. That being said, I encourage you all to stay up to date by checking out our various online information resources like social media (which you can find at the end of this newsletter) and our website which is constantly being updated to keep us on the same page. This way, we can all keep in touch and continue to serve our home, school, and community even from the bounds of our homes.

Hey Rams! Can you believe it, it's August, we are about to start school in only a couple weeks. This summer has gone so fast and i can’t believe that I’ve been your webmaster for about 4 months now. It was a challenge at first but with the support of everyone I learned how to do my duties and now i can do them by myself. Though it still saddens me that we can’t go back to the way things were before, I know that it's for everyone's safety that everything was moved to online. But we still want everyone to know that you guys are welcome and that we are still here to serve our community. One of my duties is to make sure you guys are aware of what's coming and I’ll try my hardest to make sure that everything is updated through our social media. And I know this school year isn't starting how we imagined, but I know that everything is still going to workout because we are all trying our hardest to make things work. But, I'm so excited that for all the new things that are coming to this year's terms, it may be challenging but I know we can get through it. So I ask for everyone to stay positive and to keep looking forward! Soaring with Service,

Articles and Visuals Written by Chrystal Ortega, Webmaster

The Search for a New KFR Chair In the midst of July, we hit a bump in the road once our KFR chair esigned from their position. With no KFR chair to take over the committee, we had to quickly start looking for a candidate. We started off by creating an online application and an assortment of advertisements to post all over social media. With our efforts of persuading our members, no one seemed to be interested in obtaining the leadership role. For days on end, we were on a desperate search for a suitable candidate that was willing to take up the position. As time passed, a few members applied but reconsidered the opportunity and stepped down. With our dying hopes, something amazing happened; we had one brave soul apply for the position. After seeing our candidate confidently go through with the interview, It was at that moment that we found our new KFR Chair! We are proud to announce that the new head of the KFR Committee is Nevaeh Selner.

Instagram Takeover, August 2

Social media has a large impact on today’s society and we know that the majority of students have some sort of social media outlet. So as a board, we were trying our hardest to come up with ideas in which we could expand our member retainment. After discussing all possible options, we decided to make a promotional video that allowed all of our board members, including the CLTS, to participate in. We wanted the promotion to allow our members and upcoming members to ask us questions on what Key Club is and to answer any other question they had. Our promotional video turned out amazing with the help from the board members and our hardworking Historian. We give a special thanks to our Historian, Ellanae Manera, for taking the time and effort into creating such a well-edited video. The day we posted the video, we had a tremendous amount of love shown by our followers, members, and other key clubs.

19 Takeover Questions, August 3

The following day, we posted our promotional video on each of our Instagram stories in order to spread the word. On the Rancho key club Instagram story, we posted a Q&A highlight that allowed curious individuals to ask us any questions in regards to our club operations, member

relations,

service

projects,

our

personalbexperiences with the club, etc. From there, we divided all the questions among the board members and CLTs, allowing us to answer the questions freely. We ended up having a variety

of

questions

concerning

thatcord

requirements to how to become a member, which

we

directly

answered.

Overall,

we

achieved our goal by promoting a safe place where students were comfortable enough to ask questions

while

also

informing

members of our key club qualities.
