Editor's Note: Happy summer Rams! I hope all of you are staying safe and hydrated in this scorching heat. The first four months of this term have gone by so quickly and it's a great time to take a moment and reflect on what we've accomplished so far. For example, even from the bounds of our homes, we were still able to serve our community through various service projects. Speaking of service projects, although summer is a period of transition between school years, it doesn't mean that we can't continue to make an impact! I hope I see you all at the Cycle of Upcycling webinar coming up this month, it's a wonderful opportunity to get service hours while learning how to reuse old items and give them a new purpose. With that being said, I wish you all a spectacular rest of the month. See you in August! Serving Above and Beyond,

Ellanae Manera

From Your President

From Your Vice President

Aloha Key Clubbers! Can you believe that we are now at the end of the 1st quarter of this term? Our club has accomplished so much and I am so excited to report on the club’s business throughout the first four months since I began my term. I’d like to thank members of the Club Board for their hard work and their creative ideas throughout these challenging times, it is such a pleasure to be working with amazing leaders like them. But most importantly, I’d like to thank you for your unwavering dedication to serving our home, school and community. Without you, we cannot boast the success of our club, because of you we have made great strides to move forward amid this social unrest that is challenging us all. The greatest challenge that we are now facing is how to safely reopen our club and recruit members. In the coming pages you will see what our club has accomplished and how our club will move forward till the end of our term. Till then, continue being kind to one another and continue serving our home, school and community and combat any forces which tend to undermine these institutions.

With our first quarter coming to an end, I came to ponder on our wondrous times spent serving from home, engaging with one another, and showing our booming key club spirit that has not lost its flame, despite the travesties that have greatly affected the community. Looking back at the many service projects we had to offer to our very first social of the year, it dawned on me that we are able to contribute to the betterment of our society by simply showing our positivity and gratitude that has put smiles on many faces. We were able to see growth in member involvement and saw a few new faces pop up in activities. With the first few months I spent working alongside my executive board, I grew more confident and driven to succeed in not just being an officer but as a role model/leader to you all. I especially gained more skills after taking over the presidential duties of Vincent, which at first made anxious. But after working my behind off and having you guys alongside me, I was able to achieve a great deal of tasks and goals. I hope to continue our mission one service project at a time and I thank you all for making our first quarter worth the effort.

Inspired to Serve Serving to Inspire,

Serving Magically Alongside You,

Vincent Esconde

From Your Treasurer

Hey there again ! ;) It feels like it was just yesterday that I was elected Secretary of this club and barely learning all the new duties and responsibilities I was in charge of, but we have now made it to the end of our first quarter. WOOHOO!! It’s been such an amazing 4 months and we have made so much progress already, it’s beyond incredible. We’ve done so many service projects as a club and all of them were super successful because of your active participation. Speaking of service projects, as a club we have completed 338 hours of community service which is way more than what we expected of you. The success of our club has given us all hope that we stand with an amazing group who even, during difficult times will strive to be the best and most dedicated members. It isn’t easy to accomplish what we’re doing but just know that with every event you participate and give your time to, you help make this community and world a better place. Thank you for giving me this opportunity and allowing me the chance to be a part of something so moving. I promise to continue working hard and to always keep all of my members in mind when making a decision to give you guys the best experiences. Keep being awesome and keep making an impact in this world. Serving with Love and Passion,

Hey my fellow Rams! I hope that everyone has started their summer off with a great and safe start, even though it is not the summer we all dreamed of. Though school is out and you all have plans, the board still plans on staying in touch with each other, as well as with you all! The board and the CLT’s are working very hard and diligently on providing you guys with as many service events as possible, as well as, socials, virtually! We continue to bring up some great ideas/plans that we can hopefully do during this summer and in school! I am trying my best to keep up with the budget and I am making sure that any ideas that I may have for the school year gets brought up for discussion! We will make sure that we communicate with you all through our social media, so make sure that you turn on the post notifications! Please make sure to stay safe out there and keep hydrated because we live in a desert, so summer has already started! I truly can't wait to see your positive spirits! I miss each and every one of you! Try to stay happy and always look at the positive side of things!

From Your Historian

From Your Webmaster

Hello Rams! I can’t believe that time flew so fast, it’s already the middle of July! With four months into our term, I’ve already learned so much about Key Club and the Key Club family. From attending trainings to publishing our club newsletters, I’ve definitely come across challenges along the way but nonetheless I wouldn’t trade that experience for anything. Meeting new people and expanding my knowledge of KC and leadership in general is something that I’m so grateful for. If it weren’t for every single one of you, our club wouldn’t be as amazing as it is and it wouldn’t have come as far as it has in this short period of time. So, from the bottom of my heart, thank you all you’ve done for our club and for our family. Most importantly, I would also like to recognize the Club Board for all of their hard work. Each officer and committee chair has done so much to uphold our club, even during the summer! It has been an honor to work with them and I can’t wait for what the future has in store for us. Until next month!

Can you believe it? It’s already been

4 months into our term. It’s been so fun working with everyone and getting to know all of them so much better. I know it’s only been the first quarter but I have learned so much from my peers, workshops, and leaders provided by Key Club. They’ve taught me to keep growing and to never give up even when things get hard, stay positive and keep creating new and exciting things. We hope as a board that we inspire everyone to grow and strive to become the better person we all know you can become. I know from experience that times can get tough, but we have to keep pushing because better things are coming . These last four months I have learned and become a better person with the help of Key Club.

Netflix Party, June 16

In the midst of June, our Member Development and Relations committee chair, Hoda, scheduled a virtual social event for all of our members to attend. We thought it would be a fitting idea to help our members relax and reconnect with other members, especially in these troubling and unforeseen times. With enough eye-catching advertisement, thirty of our members signed up for the event, making it our most successful social yet. While the Netflix Party had some minor technical difficulties at its start, our board members were quick enough to assist in any hindrances. According to the attendees, they enjoyed the event as it was done in the safety and comfort of their own home. Not to mention, they were glad to have caught up with members they haven't seen since quarantine took effect. With our first social of the year, we had built a stronger connection between our new members and standing members. We only hope to build our relations further into the year despite the sudden changes that have rocked our world.

Summer of Safety, June 21

With summer among us, we are all looking forward to going outdoors in the scorching heat and catching some rays. But to make sure our members and the general public are safe, we participated in promoting safe summer practices. Whether it’s riding a bike, going for a dip in the pool, or simply keeping up with proper summer skincare, we made sure to enumerate ways on how to carry on activities while staying safe and healthy. In our collaborative PSA, we covered topics such as hydration, roller skating safety, summer skincare, beach safety, traveling safety, bike safety, fireworks safety, road trip safety, and most importantly, social distancing tips. The service project had a total of nine participants, who all enjoyed filming as they were allowed to express their individual creativity in the video. All in all, we relished the time we took to educate and inform the public and would continue our part in keeping our community safe and healthy.

Summer Leadership Conference 2020 At the start of July, fifteen members (including the executive board) took part in Key Club International’s first virtual Summer Leadership Conference. We took this opportunity to enhance our leadership skills while also forming bonds with members outside our district/division. With the countless workshops they had to offer, we were educated on certain aspects of handling service, fundraisers, board positions/duties, club operations, member relations, etc. We also got to hear from guest speakers like Felice Gororodo, an entrepreneur and the co-founder of a nonprofit service organization known as Roots of Hope. The conference brought forth positivity as speakers and key club international trustees encouraged members to strive in leading our club on the path to success while also leaving a lasting impact on our schools and communities.
