Greetings Key Clubbers!

Hello,

Hey Key Club-eez!

I would first like to introduce myself to you as your president for the 2021-2022 school term! I am extremely ecstatic to have given this opportunity to serve you as your president. A little about me, I was born and raised in Ethiopia, until I turned 7 and emigrated to America. There were many drastic changes I had to make living here, but I soon adapted to this crazy country and became American. My favorite foods also came to be Tres Leches cake and spaghetti. (P.S those two do not go well together….found that out the hard way). Now, that’s enough about me, as we progress in this new term the rest of the officers and I have planned numerous service projects that will truly make an impact on our community, as well as, allow ourselves to grow. No doubt the past term has left quite an impression upon Key Club itself, amid the pandemic and quarantine. They have found memorable and exciting ways to transition RTC, general meetings, and even community service events into an online platform, making Key Club grow and become an even stronger club. Even though we currently aren’t certain of the agenda for next year, I plan to continue the hard work and dedication they put into Key Club, whether virtually or in person. Some of these plans include creating a tik tok account where we could have fun while spreading awareness and advocating for subjects we are passionate about, of course while staying safe-key, host a talent show, have a movie night, and so much more! It might be my first year in Key Club however, I have learned so much from my experiences this year and I’m ready to serve you. I hope you are prepared for a new term filled with numerous opportunities that will allow our club to flourish, our community to become one step closer to a better place, and even allow us to push ourselves out of our comfort zones!

if someone told me my freshman year that at the end of my junior year I would become Vice President for Key Club it would have been hard for me to believe. I always have been very shy and intimidated by others so to think I somehow worked up the courage to run for Vice President makes me feel very proud of myself. I know to some it might not seem a lot but those who are shy like me would understand and I just want to tell you, if I could do that so could you. It’s been really great working with this amazing board we have coming up with new ideas for you guys. I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better board and I’ll always be honored I get to be a part of it for this wonderful club. I also just wanted to mention that I will always be here for each and everyone of you no matter what it is. I would love to be friends with all of you and be there to support you on whatever you need. If you need someone to go cheer you on at your games for whatever sport or tournament just send me a message I’ll be up for it. Or if you just need someone to talk to even if it has nothing to do with the club I will listen to you and if you need advice don’t be afraid to ask. We wouldn’t have a club without our members so you’re very important to me. I’m really excited to bring new service project ideas to the board and for you guys to get to work on them. If we get lucky and are allowed to do in person service projects over the summer sadly I will not be able to attend because I will be going to Mexico. I of course will still be doing my best from over there. Finally I just wanted to mention if you even just want a follower on Instagram just send your Instagram to me on remind and I’ll go follow you. I hope you have a great day.

I just wanted to start off by saying that I am so glad to be serving alongside you all. I’d like to formally introduce myself as your Club Secretary for the 2021-2022 Term! I am also Ethiopian, (hey Nuhamine!), but I was born and raised in Vegas. I am also an avid fan of anime. I am quite introverted and shy, however, I have been working on getting out of my comfort zone and challenging myself when it comes to social activities and responsibilities. It took me a lot to even think about running for secretary, but even though my term has just started, I believe I made the correct decision. Our board is so hard working and creative so it feels only natural for me to have ran for secretary. Anywhomst, in terms of our club I will do my best in order to make all of our Key Club experiences worthwhile. I will make sure to always take care of my responsibilities so our club can run as planned. I have, in addition, made it my goal to keep our club organized and on top of things. I want to have more member involvement in things like ideas for service events, themes, as well as interaction with the events we do. I would also like for our club to be the best it can, but we can’t do that without all of our members and board. So let’s work together this term to make Key Club the best it has ever been. And don’t forget the magic phrase “If you have any questions just ask me!”

Hey, my fellow Key Clubbers!

Mabuhay Key Clubbers!

First I would like to introduce myself, my name is Nathalia Melendez, and I am proud to be your Treasurer for the 2021-2022 term! I wanted to say thank you for allowing me to be serving our community alongside you. I was born and raised in El Salvador, and lived there for the first eleven years of my life. I moved to Vegas when I was twelve, at first it was difficult because I did not speak the language and it was all very different from where I'm from. Regardless of all the struggles I went through my first year living here, I adapted very quickly. I love food, I can’t really pick a favorite one, but french fries are my weakness. I would like to say I am dedicated, if I like something I'm very passionate about it. For example my love for the 70s, the fashion, the music, the people I love it all. My favorite artists at the moment are Harry Styles (Obviously, the entirety of one direction too!), Queen, and Stevie Nicks. I used to be a shy person before, I still can be shy, but I’ve come to learn that I need to be able to take risks and opportunities because those can change your life for the better. Now here I am, ready to be your next treasurer. Even though this term was my first year in Key Club, I believe it has changed me to be a better leader and person. This term will encounter many difficulties, as all clubs do, but with the help of the all of you guys we will overcome them. As your treasurer I will make sure to fulfill my responsibilities to the best of my abilities. I will work with the board to make your time in Key Club memorable.

I am super astonished of how last term went for our key club! I know this new term will have a huge impact with knowing the amazing things your club members and us, club officers, can do together. I’d like to get to know each and every one of you as it’ll bring us together more so I’ll start first here! From just reading the first word to my message to you, I hope you got the gist that I’m Filipino! I grew up here in Vegas where I still love my culture thanks to my parents. Although I might seem a bit timid at first, but I like to make a good impact with the opportunities I can act upon when I can. I strive to achieving the goals and dreams I have in the future and for the things that I am passionate about. One of those passions include music. I love to make and listen to music as I songwrite in my free time while also practicing instruments like the cello. I try to make these passions into something that I can share for everyone even though I always think this is a scary concept. From this, I’ve learned it’s not always bad to take a risk if it can make a good impact like running for historian this term! I am so grateful for this opportunity to serve and learn alongside with you guys. I believe every situation has a reason behind everything in life so even if this pandemic hit hard on almost everyone, look at how this could bring brighten up the near future! I just know key club this new term will just be like every last term but even better as we make and strive through the goals that we have this year. I will absolutely work hard with everyone even if there are struggles with anything from school or for personal reasons. I can’t wait for this this term to progress with everyone!

Hey my fellow Key Club Members! I’m so excited to have the opportunity to be a part of our clubs executive board for the 2021-2022 term. It has been a great honor to have been able to learn from our past webmaster Chrystal Ortega these last few months. I’m excited to begin our term but I would like to say a few things about myself before we begin. I’m currently a sophomore going into my junior year during this term and I’m also in our schools’ student council. Things I enjoy range from painting to playing volleyball, but one thing I’m extremely committed to is helping my community. Since Middle School I have been in clubs and organizations like NJHS and student council, and I have always made community service one of our top priorities. Once the pandemic hit I struggled finding ways to help our community, and so I joined our schools Key Club and found a great group of people who loved to help the community. I have to say that joining our schools’ Key Club was one of the best decisions I have made this year, and I’m so glad I took the time to look into this amazing club. Though the pandemic made some major setbacks in my life this club definitely helped me find some good in all our time at home! This club has become one of my favorites our school has to offer and I cannot wait to work with the other officers this year to make it the best we possibly can! Once again I’m so grateful to have been elected the Webmaster position and I cannot wait to see the amazing things we do this upcoming term!

End of Term Banquet, April 23 On April 23 of 2021, our club had our final goodbyes with our seniors and our officers for the 20202021 school year at our End of Term Banquet! Each officer for the 2020-2021 school year gave out our club awards for member recognition. Highlights of our member recognition awardees are, Member of the Year went to Jehann Alcantara Service Bee of the Year went to Lubnaa Omer Spirit of the Year went to Honarata Esperanza-Drinks E-Board Shoutout of the Year went to Jervi Angeline Figueroa Advisor’s Choice Award went to Joseline Samaniego We also gave out recognition awards for committees, committee chairs, outstanding members, president's choice, and finally our senior chords, medallions, and stoles. Many members including our amazing seniors got awarded for all their hard work this school year and it helped us wrap up the end of the amazing 2020-2021 term. We had the opportunity to have the officers meet in the classroom to present awards, and it gave a small sense of normalcy to this amazing tradition. Though saying our goodbyes to our seniors as well as the board of 2020-2021 one school year was hard, we got to introduce our board for the 2021-2022 term and begin a new chapter for our club!

Final Club Meeting, April 19 Before our End of Term Banquet of the 23, we had our final club meeting with the 2020-2021 board on April 19! At this meeting, we had the long-awaited dares from the Kiwanis Games done by the members of our board, and like always they came in clutch and gave us a great laugh. The games came to an end at the beginning of April and at this meeting, we got to see all of our officers do the dares they were required to do based on the amount of hours we got as a club! The dares each board member did are:

President Vincent Esconde showering with three layers of clothes Vice President Jazelle Morales and KFR Chair Jervi Figueroa having their makeup done by their siblings Webmaster Chrystal Ortega putting on 25 layers of clothes Service Project Chair Melika Cummings drinking a smoothie with ingredients picked by the members RTC Chair Matthew Flores eating 10 crackers without water MDR Chair Hoda Abushanab and her sister doing a try not to laugh challenge Our amazing club did a great job with getting as many hours as we could virtually, and getting to see the board members do these dares was a great way to repay the time they put into aiding our community. The dares were a great reward for the service we did this year and it helped us finish off on a good note meeting our service hours goals! This meeting greatly inspired next year's board and our club can definitely expect an event like this to happen again during our term!

First Officer Meeting, April 28 On April 28, our 2021-2022 officers met with our club advisors and discussed some of the goals we want to set for our term this year! During the meeting, we went over many of our goals for next year's members, hours, and charity events. We also discussed some service projects like the Free Rice App we would like to do for the meantime while we wait for our senior card-making competition in the summer! We are trying to invite other schools to participate in this competition to help give back to our community while also having fun! Besides our summer card competition, we are also planning to start recruiting for next year's club and we are very excited to start our term!
