From Your Vice President

First and foremost I would like to congratulate each and every single one of you as we have survived the first quarter of distance education! I hope that you all did well this quarter, and if you didn’t remember to not give up. You still have many opportunities to make sure that you have a good semester grade. With that being said, I hope you guys have enjoyed the first few months of your Key Club journey. I speak for the rest of the board that your enthusiasm and passion to serve has inspired us to keep pushing and provide all of you with as much resources as we can. The much awaited RTC is just around the corner and I hope ALL of you have registered for it. I am personally super excited because I am going to be a workshop presenter. Election season is also just around the corner. Keep an eye out for information on how to apply to become the next Key Club officers of Rancho. It is important that you all start thinking about this and if you guys have any questions about officer positions please don’t hesitate to ask any of the incumbents. I cannot wait to see what the next few months has entailed for our club. Please stay safe and continue developing your passion for Key Club!

We made it y’all! Through a stressful first quarter! And we as a board couldn’t be any more prouder to see all of you power through a difficult time with resilience and spirit. To all our first year members, I am elated that you have decided to stay for the remainder of your school year and contribute to the overflowing greatness our club has presented. With that being said, the following months are going to be jam-packed with events like RTC, which if you haven’t signed for, I highly suggest you do now before it’s too late! RTC will be an amazing opportunity for all to partake in and gain insight on various topics concerning the true values of key club. Despite it being virtual this year, it will be an unforgettable experience and will make you not want to miss out on future RTCs. Again, thank you from the bottom of my heart for everything you guys have done to make us, the board, even more motivated and excited to continue working towards our goals while making new, everlasting memories. It’s a blessing to see all of you serve your home, school, and community through a difficult time and just remember, to never give up! We’re all in this together to make this school year worthwhile despite the hurdles we are facing. Remember to stay safe ( wear a mask and get that flu shot!) and spread love and kindness all around!

It’s already October ?? Whattt that’s crazyy! I hope these past few months have been treating you well and you have found a beneficial routine that keeps you focused and on task. I know this year has been stressful and has tested us all more than we expected but I want to express the importance of mental health real quick. No matter how low or unmotivated you get there will always be someone willing to lift you up and see you succeed. You’re important to a lot more people than you think and you matter! We all serve a purpose in this world and I would hate for any one of you to feel alone in these trying times. Just know that not only does this E-board have your back but you also have the support of all of our members. We have built a second family that you can always count on and talk to. Speaking of members, we have grown our family so much this term! It’s with all my heart when I say I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished considering where we started. Keep growing this family and keep being you, because we need more beautiful people like you in this world.

Hey there amazing Rams! First quarter is officially over! I would like to say that I am proud of each and every one of you for pushing to do your best throughout that stressful quarter. Now that we are starting the 2nd quarter, I hope that you are adjusting to distance learning. In regards to Key Club, I would like to say that you all have been so amazing and I am extremely pleased with the amount of members that are dedicating their time to Key Club. This truly inspires the board and I to work even harder to make sure that you all are getting the best experience as a Key Club Member! With that being said, I hope you all are submitting your membership applications and paying your dues. Remember that the dues are only $12.00 this year. Make sure to pay your dues as soon as possible and if you can not afford to pay for the dues, do not hesitate to let us know! You can pay for your dues through the Rancho Webstore and do not forget to send me a screenshot, to verify that you have paid, through my email! This needs to get done as soon as possible, so please please get it done! I miss each and every one of you! Try to stay happy, safe, and always look at the positive side of things!

How's it going, Key Clubbers? Fall is finally upon us and we're beginning the second quarter of the school year. During this time, it's very easy to be overwhelmed with things like school work and other outside stressors. I just wanted to take a moment to tell you that your mental health is just as important as any other part of your health. If you feel stressed out, want to vent, or just chat, I'm always free to talk! I urge you to reach out if you're overwhelmed and I also urge you to reach out to your friends that you may have gotten out of touch with. There are so many people that care about you because you matter. You matter so, so much! Key Club is a family and we'll always be by your side. On that note, I'm so proud of all of your participation in our recent events and I hope that we can keep up this amazing streak! See you at our next General Meeting!

Hey Rams, can you believe it is already October! I hope everyone did amazing during the first quarter. I know everyone is working to adjust with the changes made this school year and I wish the best for all of you. In regards to school, let's talk about something hopefully enjoyable this month. Its spooky season, the weather is changing, and Halloween is this month. This is personally my favorite season of the year because I finally have a reason to start staying in bed because of how cold it is getting. But it does pain me that it's not doing to be the same because of the pandemic, but I still look for the good in the situations we're in. Other than how excited I am for this month, I’ve been working hard to maintain my grades and trying not to stress over colleges. It's important to take time for yourself because everything might get overwhelming and we have to remember what we are working hard for. I wish the best to all of you and to remember to stay safe this Halloween.

ARTICLES AND VISUALS BY WEBMASTER CHRYSTAL ORTEGA GENERAL MEETING, SEPTEMBER 21

AFTER OUR GRAND FIRST MEETING IN AUGUST, WE, THE E-BOARD, KNEW THAT WE HAD TO MAKE SURE THE NEXT MEETING WAS EVEN BETTER. WE GOT TO DISCUSSING THEMES FOR THE MEETING, AS WE WANT TO DO SOMETHING NEW AND KEEP OUR MEMBERS ENTERTAINED, AND WE CAME UP WITH AVATAR, THE LAST AIRBENDER. EACH MEMBER OF THE BOARD CHOSE A PARTICULAR CHARACTER TO DRESS UP AS, WHILE OUR COMMITTEES CHOSE AN ELEMENT THAT CORRELATED TO AN “ELEMENT OF SERVICE”. WE HAD A PRESENTATION DISCUSSING THE PREMISE OF THE ELEMENTS OF SERVICE AND WHAT THEY MEAN ACCORDING TO EACH COMMITTEE. THEN, WE HAD FOUR BREAKOUT ROOMS IN WHICH EACH COMMITTEE WAS IN CHARGE OF DISCUSSING THE IMPORTANCE OF THEIR ASSOCIATED ELEMENT AND TOPIC: PHILANTHROPY (EARTH), LIFESTYLE CHANGE (AIR), ADVOCACY (WATER), AND DIRECT/INDIRECT SERVICE (FIRE). AFTER BEING IN THE BREAKOUT ROOM SESSION, WE DECIDED TO DO A MINI ICEBREAKER BEFORE THE END OF OUR MEETING AND WHY NOT END IT OFF WITH A GAME OF PICTIONARY! HAVING A THEME FOR THIS MEETING ALLOWED US TO HAVE FUN AND BROUGHT US TOGETHER WITH OTHER MEMBERS WHO ARE FANS OF THE SHOW. WITH YET ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL MEETING, WE LOOK FORWARD TO CONTINUING THE TRADITION OF THEMED GENERAL MEETINGS. COME TO OUR NEXT MEETING TO SEE WHAT OUR NEXT THEME WILL BE! IT MIGHT JUST SURPRISE YOU.

RANCHO'S GOT TALENT SHOW, SEPTEMBER 25TH

WITH OUR BUSY WEEK, WE HAD OUR SECOND SOCIAL OF THE YEAR! OUR MDR CHAIR, HODA ABUSHANAB, HOSTED THE RANCHO GOT TALENT SHOW TO SHOWCASE SOME OF OUR MEMBERS’ AMAZING TALENTS. WE HAD AN ARRANGEMENT OF TALENTS SUCH AS SINGING, DRAWING, AND PLAYING PIANO. WE HAD FOUR CONTESTANTS: CLAIRE PORMENTO WHO SANG IDONTWANNABEYOUANYMORE BY BILLIE EILISH, TAREN WILSON WHO DEMONSTRATED HER QUICK DRAWING SKILLS, HANNAH KWAN WHO PERFORMED BACH FUGUE NO. 15 IN G MAJOR ON THE PIANO, AND KATHERINE GAUTHIER WHO PRESENTED HER LOVELY ARTWORK TO OUR MEMBERS. ALL OF OUR CONTESTANTS BLEW OUR AUDIENCE AWAY WITH THEIR AMAZINGLY CAPTIVATING TALENTS WHICH LEFT THE EXECUTIVE BOARD WITH A TOUGH DECISION TO MAKE WHEN CHOOSING THE OVERALL WINNER. THE BOARD TOOK SOME TIME DISCUSSING THE WINNER AS ALL OF OUR CONTESTANTS WERE, IN OUR OPINION, EQUALLY GREAT. BUT AFTER MAKING OUR DECISION, WE DEEMED HANNAH KWAN AS OUR RANCHO GOT TALENT SHOW WINNER! THE PRIZE FOR HER ACCOMPLISHMENT WAS DONATING $20 TO A CHARITY OF HER CHOICE. WE ENDED THE TALENT SHOW BY GIVING A ROUND OF APPLAUSE TO OUR WINNER AND OUR PARTICIPANTS WHO’VE TAKEN TIME OUT OF THEIR DAY TO SHOWCASE THEIR TALENT.

PASTRIES FOR PTP, SEPTEMBER 27TH

OUR SERVICE PROJECT CHAIR, MELIKA CUMMINGS, AND KFR CHAIR, NEVAEH SELNER, WORKED ENDLESSLY TO CREATE AN EVENT THAT BROUGHT AWARENESS TO THE PEDIATRIC TRAUMA PROGRAM (PTP). PTP IS A CHARITY THAT WAS ESTABLISHED BY KIWANIS CNH CHILDREN’S FUND IN 1994. THEY FOCUSED ON WHAT PTP IS AND HOW YOU CAN PREVENT UNINTENTIONAL INJURIES. DURING THE COURSE OF THIS EVENT, WE BAKED COOKIES ALONGSIDE OUR HOST, MELIKA, WHO TAUGHT MEMBERS AN EASY STEP-BY-STEP CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE RECIPE. IN CORRELATION TO PTP, MELIKA RELATED EACH INGREDIENT USED FOR THE COOKIES WITH A CERTAIN ASPECT OF PTP THAT HELPED EXPLAIN ITS PURPOSE. FOR EXAMPLE, THE FLOUR REPRESENTS THE FOUNDATION OF INFORMATION THAT CAN SPARK CREATIVE WAYS TO HELP SUPPORT PTP. BY BAKING DELICIOUSLY SWEET COOKIES AND LEARNING MORE ABOUT PTP THROUGH MINI INTERACTIVE GAMES, OUR MEMBERS WERE ENGAGED AND EDUCATED ON PTP’S MISSION.
