Hello Again Keyuties! Can you believe we are already in the month of September? In just three months 2020 is about to come to an end, and let’s be real we all want 2020 to end soon. I hope your back to school experience was something you’ll never forget, from canvas crashing to slow wifi connection, memories have definitely been made. To all of the freshmen that are reading this, welcome to Rancho! Freshman year is hard enough as it is and starting it virtually makes me salute all of you. My freshman advice is to make sure that you do not treat it like middle school, because I sadly made that mistake my freshman year. I would like to thank all of you for attending our first general meeting, we had such an amazing turn out! Remember to tell your friends to join Key Club because it is never too late to join. I cannot wait to serve our homes, school and community together during this school year. We might be virtual but that does not mean that service dies. Just like our division motto “Burning up the skies, the service never dies”. Till then please make sure you stay safe, practice social distancing, wear a mask and be kind to one another.
Bienvenue everyone! I hope you all had a splendid first month of school. A lot has changed and happened over the course of August and to make up for that, we are looking forward to catering freshly new, innovative, and fun ideas for all to enjoy! After seeing the amount of people come to our very first meeting of the year (take note: 80+ people!), I knew that with you guys finally being part of our Key Club family, we will amount to almost anything. The board and I are working hard enough to prepare for upcoming months that will be full of exciting traditions that we hope to implement into our year of success. We know that with how stressful things may be for us, we are not expecting you all to overwork yourselves when serving with us. Please take into consideration your mental, emotional, and physical health when going about this year for a happier, more positive outlook on what is to come. With that being said, I hope to magically serve alongside you all for a year you will never forget! I would just want to end off on that note by saying that you are smart, you are kind, and you are important. Never forget that!

Serving Magically Alongside You,

Hey there! August flew by quickly didn’t it? I hope you guys are adjusting and enjoying the new school year. If it hasn’t been, don’t worry you’re not alone! Online school can be tough at times especially for my freshman out there but just as long as you keep a positive and hopeful attitude I know the year will turn out great. I’m so thankful that I get to be starting my year off with all of you. We really did end the month of August strong with our first general meeting of the new school year! We had a total of 88 attendees which is incredible and I had a lot of fun with you guys. I cannot thank you guys enough for all the participation and support and we just keep getting bigger and stronger. But, speaking of the new school year… that also means new members! Our applications are already out, you can access the application using the link tinyurl.com/ranchokcapp. Remember returning members have to fill this out as well. This year will definitely test you and may be a lot harder than you anticipated but just make sure you stay focused on the things you love and try your best throughout the whole school year, that means no procrastinating and no excuses (trust me you’ll thank me later). I wish you guys the best of luck and I hope you’re working hard everyday to better yourself and grow.
Aloha Rams! Gosh that first month of school went by so quick! I really hope that you are loving and adjusting to this new school year full of different things that we have to adapt to. If you have been stressing about distance learning, just know that we all understand. I already have cried because of it! Lol! Just know we will all get used to it and just make sure to have a positive attitude! I am very pleased to say that our first meeting of the school year was extremely successful and the board and I could not be any more thankful to all of you for that. The amount of members and prospective members that came to the meeting was truly so amazing! Since it is a new school year, you all need to remember that after you submitted the membership application, you need to pay for your dues. This year we have reduced the dues to $12.00. Make sure to pay your dues as soon as possible, but if you can not afford to pay for the dues, do not hesitate to let us know! You can pay for your dues through the Rancho Webstore and do not forget to send me a screenshot, to verify that you have paid, through my email! Please continue to be so amazing and if you need anything or have any questions, feel free to contact me! Remember not to stress too much and stay focused! I miss each and every one of you! Try to stay happy, safe, and always look at the positive side of things!

While you're here, go take a deep breath, drink some water, and remember that it's important to take some time for yourself, especially with the influx of school work. You got this! Once again, I am so happy to extend our Key Club family and have things up and running again. I can't wait to see you all again at our next general meeting!
Can you believe, it's already been one month into school, time is flying when we’re busy. I’ve been keeping myself busy with the website and making sure that I keep everyone updated on upcoming events or meetings. Just like how I did for our first meeting of this year. It was so nice to see how many people were there, especially since we have been known to be a small club. It makes me so happy because it lets me know that I’m doing a good job advertising our club to anyone who wants to join. And lately we’ve even been trying to extend our presence by using our website to release forms or even our application. I’m making sure everything is on there that anyone would need. Which reminds me you guys should definitely go check out our website, the link is in our Instagram bio. I also want to wish everyone the best in this school. I know it has been a lot with the change to online, but I believe in every single one of you.

ARTICLES AND VISUALS WRITTEN BY WEBMASTER CHRYSTAL ORTEGA FRESHMAN ORIENTATION, AUGUST 21 On August 21st, our school held a virtual freshman orientation which allowed incoming freshmen to get a feel of how high school is going to be like now that we’re going virtual. During the Freshman orientation, a club fair was taking place for incoming freshmen to check out an array of clubs Rancho has to offer. Our board, thinking that we won't have a lot of freshmen attending our presentation, was surprised to have seen the number of participants in our club presentation. We went over what our mission is in Key Club and what we do when it comes to service. While preaching about Key Club for half of the presentation, we went on to share our own high school experiences and gave advice to those who asked questions relating to high school. We also encouraged all of the incoming freshmen to sign up for our first general meeting, join our Remind, and follow our Instagram account for more upcoming information. At the end of our course, we had a large turnout of about 15-20 attendees. It may not seem like a lot, but we were the club with the most visitors, thus increasing our club’s popularity. A member from another club praised our work and told us that “Key Club slayed everyone”. We were stirred with excitement to have seen so many new faces and we only hope to see them be part of our growing family.
OUR FIRST MEETING, AUGUST 31 On the last Monday of August, we had our first general meeting of the 2020-2021 school year. We were more than delighted to see our members who we have so greatly missed during the summer break. We welcomed our current members and new members by introducing ourselves and our positions in the executive board while also presenting our amazing Committee Leadership Teams. We moved on by discussing our club operations, our MDR Committee’s upcoming social event, RTC, our upcoming Bingo Night fundraiser, and announced the President’s charity of choice which is The Innocence Project; a nonprofit organization whose mission is to help exonerate the wrongly convicted and reforms the justice system in hopes of preventing future injustices. We even set up a portion of our meeting called Tea Time, which allows our members to talk freely, while also following safekey, about what’s on their mind, how their day is going, or other such topics they want to bring up. We thought that this would be a valuable time to engage with our members while also allowing our members to comfortably express themselves. When the presentation came to end we played a Kahoot game our President created, and whoever won first place would win a $20 gift card of their choice. This incentive encouraged our members to participate in the Kahoot game that involved questions about the Executive board, CLTs, our club division and region, CNH, and other aspects of Key Club. This concluded our very first meeting, having a total of 88 attendees which was beyond our goal.

CRUISING: COLLEGE AND CAREER EXPLORATION
When it comes time for college planning, many students are oftentimes confused or stuck in the process. “How do I apply?” “How can I write a personal statement essay?” “What do I look for in a college?”. With many fluttering questions, our Service Projects Chairwoman, Melika, thought of an amazing solution that’ll help our members better understand college planning. That being a Cruisingthrough-college webinar. The presentation, that lasted for about three hours, had special guest speakers, like Dr. Tony Terrel, the director of advising and recruitment for the UNLV Honors College who discussed the importance of academic determination and how to be a well-rounded student. Many topics were discussed during the duration of the presentation such as types of scholarships, the admissions process, financial aid, how to be a competitive scholar, and college essays which all of our members were interested in. Especially our seniors; who were seen taking notes on the provided information and engaging in the presentation by asking many questions. Overall, the college webinar was a success as it helped promote Children’s education for the August SOSP.
