Tour Newly Protected Monument Lands

Rally for their Public Ownership & Official Designation The Pacific Forest Trust (PFT) is proud to announce the completion of the "purchase and protect" phase of our Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument Campaign.

100% Recycled Paper

Since launching the campaign, PFT has conserved approximately 5,000 acres of threatened forests, meadows and wetlands within the boundaries of the Monument Planning Area. By acquiring these large tracts of lands, we are striving to successfully create a more cohesive landscape; protect the ecological integrity of the wild lands, watersheds and wildlife habitats; and unify the Monument under a common conservation strategy.

Now we are taking the next step toward completing this vision – garnering widespread support to have these lands transferred to public ownership and officially added to the Monument. Established in 2000 as the first national monument designated specifically for its extraordinary biodiversity, the Monument Planning Area brings together vegetation from the high deserts of the Great Basin with flora from the wet forests of the Pacific Coast. The Monument is home to 3,500 plant and animal species – many of which are found nowhere else on Earth. In fact, the globally outstanding Klamath-Cascade

eco-region in which the Monument lies has been called the "Galapagos of America." Join us near Ashland, Oregon to discover the Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument, celebrate its 7th birthday and learn more about PFT's efforts to connect the pieces and conserve the prize.
