Why Key Club? By: Katherine Fox

Key Club at Randall High School is a diverse community with students from grades 9 to 12, who are all striving for personal excellence and are offering a helping hand to those in need. Key Club is a place where students are able to make new friends and establish relationships with teachers and mentors. At Randall High School, upperclassmen work diligently each year to recruit new members from the middle school and junior high, but also from the underclassmen who attend Randall already. It is a wonderful organization to be a part of, and those around us benefit from the service the club provides. Personally, I decided to join Key Club as an incentive to earn community service and push others in my school to serve the community. I also knew that this organization being on a college or working resume would look really good when applying for a job or to get into school. There is so much I can do for a community and town that does so much for me and my peers, and I figured that Key Club would be a helpful start to helping as much as I can. I do believe that getting a certain amount of hours for service is good, but I also believe that service from your heart is important to shaping your own character, and for doing the best job you can possibly do for those around you. I am very grateful for Key Club and all of the life lessons I’ve learned throughout my high school career being a part of it. Junior Kaeleigh Miller says,”I decided to join Key Club because I wanted to get more involved in my school. It felt good to give back to my community, and Key Club gives me a sense of purpose and reminds me of my blessings. The people I’ve met through Key Club are some of the best people I’ll ever meet, they have continued to inspire me to do good. When I joined Key Club three years ago, I didn't have any idea the impact it would have on my life. I wouldn't change the experiences I had with Key Club and the impact it has had on my high school career for anything.” Miller is the Recording Secretary for Randall High School Key Club, and she has served a large part of the club’s success this school year. Our club is proud to represent the community of Amarillo and Canyon, and our members strive for their own excellence as well as pushing others to do their best as well.
