Halloween Story Time By. Kaelyn Thomas
At Barnes and Noble’s Halloween Story Time, I had a wonderful time reading Olaf’s Christmas and Doctor Seuss: What Pet Should We Get? Countlessly to a group of children in the cozy Kid’s Area.
Balloon Glow By. Brittany Tu
The annual Balloon Glow at Don Harrington Civic Center benefits the family care foundation. The family care foundation provides medical care to those who can’t afford it, from surgery for a broken arm to an inhaler. This was my second time to help at the Balloon Glow. This year, we helped make burgers. We would put a burger, lettuce, pickles, tomatoes, and condiments into a to-go container, and the other people would sell them. I really liked this event because I also got to meet other key clubbers from Tascosa High School, and I even ran into someone I already knew.

The ELIMINATE Project A Major Emphasis Project
UNCEF and the K-family have partnered together to eliminate maternal neonatal tetanus. Thousands of innocent babies and mothers die from tetanus die every year. When these babies have tetanus, they experience painful convulsions and are extremely sensitive to light and touch. Mothers can’t even hold their babies to comfort them because it would cause their babies even more pain. UNICEF and the K-family work together to raise funds to help vaccinate mothers, thereby protecting them and their future babies. It only takes $1.80 to vaccinate a mother, and maternal and neonatal tetanus has been eliminated from 8 countries so far.
Don’t forget to do your part and trick0-or-treat for UNICEF this month. We do many fundraisers for UNICEF throughout the year, and this is our biggest by far. Help a mother and her future babies today!
