DCON Theme I have not yet had the opportunity to go to DCON, but I know that last year’s theme was “Service: Mission Accepted!” The idea was based on Mission Impossible, and I heard that it was a lot of fun. This year is “The Wizarding World of Service!” from Harry Potter, and I am really excited to see how it turns out, since I absolutely love Harry Potter, the books and the movies! I think that themes are really important to DCON because it sets the tone for the whole event. There are so many choices to choose from, and I think that a theme that everyone can relate to is essential. One theme I would like to see is like a throwback theme. A theme from the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, or 90s seems like a lot of fun to me. I think that with this theme there is a lot of opportunity with catchphrases and with the dances. I think a throwback theme would make for some really cool activities that tie in nicely with the theme. Another theme that I think that everyone at DCON could connect to is some type of Disney theme. I do not know if this theme has already been done, but there is a lot that you could do with Disney, as far as themes go. Characters that embody Disney, such as Mickey Mouse, Goofy, or any of the Disney princesses could be included in the theme, along with many, many more. 4

One theme I, personally, would really enjoy is the Lord of the Rings. Albeit, I know that a lot of people aren’t as nerdy as I am, but I think that it would be a really cool theme to have in DCON. A theme I wouldn’t enjoy as much because I cannot relate to it, but I know a lot of other would, is a social media theme. This connects to a large variety of DCON attendees, and there would be a lot of different activities I would be interested in taking part in, even though I do not have social media. DCON is a really important event to Key Club, and even though the theme is not the most crucial part of the event, it is still very significant. It takes part in uniting all of the attendees together, which is definitely one of the most important parts. Regardless of the theme, I think that the annual DCON will always be an event to remember.
