Where Key Club Members Serve Brooke Newson

Key Club members “pledge on (their) honor…..to build

(their) home, school, and community.” These members dedicate themselves to serve those around them. They attend a variety of charitable events and go to a plethora of locations in the community. These locations include the Ronald McDonald House, SnakPak, the Washington Avenue Family Service Center, and the Botanical Gardens. At the Ronald McDonald House, members prepare delectable meals for families. Key Club members also help provide ingredients for these meals. After school, members head over to the Ronald McDonald, hands and hearts ready to make dinner. They work together diligently to create the evening’s dish. After the meal is finished, the Key Club members get to enjoy a portion of what they helped cook. Their work helps to feed hungry children, mothers, and fathers. At SnakPak, Key Club members prepare snacks, fill bins with snacks, and fill bags with snacks for students who don’t usually receive little food. SnakPak workers are always excited to have them and have many jobs they can give out to volunteers. Members unbox capri-suns, unwrap packages of pudding, and fill bins with beef jerky. Afterwards, an assembly line of people is formed to fill plastic bags with the multitude of snacks. Members quickly fill three hundred bags while speaking to one another amiably. In this event, Key Club members get to as-

sist fellow students. Attending the Washington Avenue Family Service Center on Thursdays, Key Club members get to fill paper bags with food for families, load carts with these bags, food, and other goods, bring them out to families, load cars, and organize the shelves of food inside. Those who work at the center are welcoming and friendly with all those who come. Families are given the resources they need for the week through the Service Center’s and the Key Club members’ generosity. “I pledge, on my honor, to Member of Key Club are usually found at the Botanical Gardens during Christmas time. They find themselves taking pictures for visitors or helping out with Santa on chilly Saturdays in December. Members have this opportunity to spread holiday cheer and enjoy the gorgeous gardens.

uphold the objects of Key Club International., to build my home, school, and community, to serve my nation and God, and to combat all forces which tend to undermine these institutions.” - Key Club Pledge

Altogether, Key Club serves in all of these locations and more! Key Club members serve at school events, fall festivals, and other community events. Key Club members serve food to the hungry, spread joy to others, and enjoy giving back to the community. Each event presents a unique opportunity to interact with wonderful people, serve families or classmates, and to find out about the joys of serving those in need.
