Key Club ’s
Vampires Once a semester, Randall High School hosts a blood drive for our local blood bank. Every fall semester in order to make it more fun for people and to get more people involved, we make it Halloween themed by passing out Halloween shirts to everyone who gives blood that say that they were attacked by a vampire. Our Key Club is lucky to have the opportunity to sponsor this event, because it is a great way for aspiring medical students in Key Club to learn information on blood types and how to take blood. After someone gives blood, they are usu-
ally light headed and nauseous, so it is our job to walk
them back to class and to make sure they get there safely

out. Because of the fragile blood-taking equipment everywhere and our job duty, only Key Club board members get to work this event, but several Key Club members choose to donate blood and sponsor the event by getting hours in that fashion. It is a lot of fun to work this event because we

dies that work for the blood bank enjoy coming to Randall because our Key Club helps people sign in and create appointments, making the process very efficient. Thankfully, this time no one passed out while we were
walking them to class, but it has happened in the past. Because taking blood makes people have low blood sugar, we also provide snacks and soft drinks to reenergize the students before and after they have finished giving blood. Besides tons of students, we also had two park rangers who were at the school for an assembly and quite a few teachers who were on their breaks consider the idea of giving blood. Our local blood bank, the Coffee Memorial Blood Bank helps people all over the panhandle of Tex-
