“March for Meals” parades its way to Denton Neighborhoods, Fighting Hunger for starving seniors DALLAS--(February 27, 2009)-- March for Meals is an annual campaign that takes place this month in efforts to raise awareness of senior hunger among residents in Denton County. Many people may not realize that their next-door neighbor could be one of our 350 seniors (and growing in number) who receive nutritional meals on a daily basis from Meals on Wheels. First launched by the Meals on Wheels Association of America in 2000, this campaign was created to call attention to senior hunger problem in America. The MOWAA Data shows nearly one quarter of a million seniors who suffered from hunger because of financial strain between 2001 and 2006, according to the Meals on Wheels Association of America.
