I call my parents at least once a month and visit them once or twice a week even though we live in the same city. Unmarried, childless and a 30-something male; my life revolves around work. Even I see that maintaining my family relationships is a year-round effort that requires quality time and regular conversations. My mom’s a chef and she loves to eat out. few weeks ago, the Los Angeles Times published a story about a study based on 2 billion cell phone calls in Europe that suggest that the bonds between mothers and daughters surpasses that of wives to their husbands. Researchers say that the findings suggest that “women’s urge to ensure the survival of their genes may be connected with the nature of, and shift in these intimate relationships.” I’m not so sure that the ties that bind mothers and their children are quite as instinctual as that.
