Look at the Advantages of Buying a Jamison Door The Value Difference Hand-Framing Makes. Jamison Doors start with a hand-constructed framing designed specifically for your application. Starting this way allows us to provide secure, strong, properly positioned mounting supports for the hardware. It also makes it possible for us to add the extra strength needed on larger doors.

Look-Alike Door Materials Don’t Perform Alike. Many cold storage doors are made by simply assembling facings and frame components to a pre-fab panel of either expanded polystyrene or urethane. Instead, Jamison creates a superior monolithic structure by using foamed-in-place urethane. It delivers superior R-values for a given cross section and it’s damage-resistant. It also provides a narrow profile that saves you valuable floor space, adds operating efficiency, and helps protect the door from damage.

Quality Hardware and Electric Panels are a Part of Every Jamison Door. The quality of Jamison hardware is clearly visible. Compare our track assemblies, hinges, latches and rollers, and you will see they are the heaviest-duty quality available. This assures you of longer door life with less costly maintenance and downtime.

We Pay Special Attention to Door Gaskets. Gaskets are the first line of defense against energy loss in a cold storage door. That is why we pay special attention to gasket materials, design and installation. We use many different shapes and formulations, each designed for a specific use. Our gaskets are actually a part of the door design, not an afterthought. On all Mark IV Doors, the gaskets are field adjustable to retain full sealing ability over many years of use. Most importantly, the design and operation of our door closing systems minimize gasket drag and protect the gaskets from wear.

The Most Unique and Reliable Door Closing Systems Available. Our Patented Diamond-Trac® System is a “down-and-in” sliding door system that establishes the most effective thermal seal with compression points at heads, sides, and sills. The Diamond-Trac System provides an easy and quiet opening and closing cycle. Our overhead and vertical doors use the same long-life “down-and-in” sealing principle. Our swing doors use heavyduty latches and hinges for rapid action, low-maintenance, and high dependability.

Jamison Builds in Additional Protection. For more operating protection, we include a sensitive edge on power sliding doors that reverses motion instantly if touched. All vertical door counterweights are secured to both sides of the door. All Jamison doors can be equipped so that they can be opened from the inside, even when padlocked from the front. And for added protection of your investment in Jamison quality, there is a Five Year Limited Warranty on all Jamison Mark IV Doors.

HCR Air Doors

The World Leader in Re-Circulatory Air Door Technology Engineered Solutions for Open Doorways In 1974, the founders of HCR set out to find a better solution for moving traffic through cooler and freezer doors. Using a completely fresh engineering approach and the principles of psychrometrics, the refrigeration engineers at HCR developed new technologies that pioneered the re-circulatory air door industry. Today, with more than 30 years of field experience, HCR has gone from the drawing board to application, from a basic idea to reality and has proven itself with thousands of successful installations worldwide inside the facilities of the largest, most demanding and costconscious grocery and food distribution centers, food processing plants and refrigerated warehouses.

14

HCR Air Doors Remove All Obstacles HCR makes the appeal of an unencumbered, wideopen doorway for your workers to move about freely and efficiently a reality‌removing all obstacles from your path. The benefits of HCR in your facility are visibly dramatic through the elimination of frost and ice and additionally remarkable in increasing productivity. When applied to large freezers with high-traffic or problematic doors, fullyoperational HCR units are essentially the same as adding refrigeration capacity. Merchandise movement is significantly increased and HCR units help expand critical storage space. Safety concerns are reduced due to the clear visibility of the open doorway, the removal of frost and ice on the floor, and the elimination of moving door parts. HCR makes the appeal of an unencumbered, wide-open doorway for your workers to move about freely and efficiently a reality‌ removing all obstacles from their path.

The Principles of Psychrometrics Put to Work Psychrometrics is the study of moisture in the air and the changes in air conditions such as temperature, absolute and relative humidity, and moisture content. Nowhere are the effects of psychrometric principles more evident than in a cold storage environment. According to the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), within seconds after a door is open a natural air exchange occurs. When there is a doorway between two rooms with considerable or extreme temperature differences, the natural air exchange translates into significant cold air loss and warm air and moisture infiltration. Further, infiltrating air can account for up to 50% of the refrigeration load in a cold storage facility. Rigid doors work well where traffic is low and open and close cycles are few and of short duration, or when the room temperature differences are not extreme. But there comes a point where a rigid door no longer serves as the most costeffective solution. The more the door is opened, the more air exchange takes place and the doorway is subject to all of the problems that would occur as if there were no door at all. HCR applies the principles of psychrometrics by first eliminating the moving door that is constantly opening and closing replacing it with a wide open doorway vestibule that provides a continuous air barrier between rooms, preventing infiltration while capturing and conditioning the air to a non-frost non-fog producing state.

Model AC Air Curtain Model AC is HCR’s basic unit—Horizontal, Curvilinear, and Recirculatory. Its air stream produces counter-flow forces equal and opposite to the twoway flow-through forces caused by air temperature differences. • Significantly reduces two-way air exchange • Greatly diminishes air infiltration • Mixes air at the interface between room air and the air curtain’s air stream • For open doorways between cooler-to-cooler, coolerto-ambient, and freezer-to-freezer • Available in stainless and powder-coat finishes • Can be used between two freezers without requiring any heat

Air Flow Patterns of the AC

16

Model CAC Conditioned Air Curtain

Using Computational Fluid Dynamic software, air flow patterns with HCR’s Air Curtain are made visible. CFD software shows how the air is circulating and captured within the AC unit.

The Model CAC Air Curtain is for applications where humidity is extreme. A heater unit is added to condition the air as it mixes inside the vestibule.

Model NPAC Negative Pressure Air Curtain

For an unprotected doorway, CFD shows cold air escaping from a freezer into a warmer anteroom.

The basic NPAC model is made to counteract the one-way flowthrough forces caused by negative building pressure or by wind effects.

Using a single air curtain, CFD shows how an air barrier is established and refrigeration loss eliminated

17

Model DCAV Double Conditioned Air Vestibule The Model DCAV consists of two HCR air curtains. When placed together and designed to work in harmony, it creates an air vestibule between the two air streams where the air is captured and treated to a non-frost, non-fog state. It measures approximately eight feet in the direction of travel. • • • • • • • • • • •

No frost, fog or icing Eliminates safety hazards No haze within cold room Reduced maintenance costs No frost on stored products Reduced moisture gains Reduced refrigeration loss Reduced coil defrosting burden Increased warehouse productivity Improved refrigeration cycle efficiency Sublimates existing frost build-up

The Model DCAV automatically adjusts as conditions change to optimize performance and reduce energy consumption.

Air Flow Patterns of the DCAV

Using Computational Fluid Dynamic software (CFD), typical air flow patterns of cold air escaping onto a refrigerated dock can clearly be seen. 18

Treating the same opening with HCR’s DCAV shows how the air is mixed and held within the vestibule area, minimizing air escape and infiltration. Inside the vestibule the air is treated to a nonfrost, non-fog state.

Model 3CAV Triple Conditioned Air Vestibule The Model 3CAV is mainly used between rooms with extreme temperature differences and very high traffic. The frost elimination cycle is similar to the Model DCAV but the additional vestibule improves efficiency as well as increases the model’s temperature range applicability. It measures approximately eleven feet in the direction of travel. • • • • • • • • • • • • •

Wide open doorway-no door-open time Sliding door or strip curtain eliminated No frost, fog or icing Eliminates safety hazards No haze within cold room Reduced maintenance costs No frost on stored products Reduced moisture gains Reduced refrigeration loss Reduced coil defrosting burden Increased warehouse productivity Improved refrigeration cycle efficiency Sublimates existing frost build-up
