Survey Pr. Nicola Braghieri EPFL Bachelor 4 June 2017

This building was surveyed in Grimentz in the swiss mountains. It is a granary that used to be shared by families to store food and clothing. It is a vernacular construction, built with local materials (wood, stones). Its architecture testfies hardship of experience, mounted for example on slabs to avoid humidity and rats. He admits a rough geometry. We measured its dimensions for two days in situ, using atmospheric pressure in water pipes and weights to set up reference lines. We then modelized it in Rhino 3d and made a 1:20 model.

Euljiro gallery Pr. Dominique Perrault EPFL Bachelor 3/4 August 2017

In collaboration for the 2017 first Seoul Biennale, the EPFL SubLab and the EWHA AdsLAb proposed 27 projects to invest the underground Euljiro gallery. We have developed in our segment a concept that densifies space by investing the ceiling. Originally thought of as an inverted topography housing a bar, the project finally took the form of a hotel whose rooms are a succession of suspended pixels. Designed as a 30m long bench, the final 1:100 model was set up during a summer workshop in Seoul.

Structure Origami Pr. Yves Weinand EPFL Bachelor 5 December 2017

This folding of wooden panels is a system able to cover a sports field and bleachers. As a first concept, we wanted to reenforce the asymmetry of the interior. The structure is then inspired by an origami; the folds constrain all of this cover and make it self-bearing as demonstered the models. The lateral faรงades are also completely free of bearing and are then two large glass surfaces. We have design that complex as a single layer of load-bearing panels, covered by insulation and cover panels. The assemblies are tenons /mortises.

3D reconstruction Pr. Nicola Braghieri EPFL Bachelor 5 January 2018

The exercise produces two images based on the painting of a bedroom : a reconstruction and an interpretation. We have choosen ÂŤWoman Tearing a Letter Âť by Dirck Hals (1631). The first process includes a deconstruction of the perspective, a Rhino 3D modeling and a Vray rendering. A white model photo is also superimposed in Photoshop post-production. The second image interprets the dramaturgy of the lights and the letter by unveiling a photography studio. We modeled ourselves all the objects on Rhino 3D and produced a Vray rendering.

Housing Rotterdam Pr. Luca Ortelli EPFL Bachelor 5 May 2018

This project develops 500 housing units in the Noord district of Rotterdam. A building front is raised to the south of exis ting private gardens. The generated walkway connects the Vroesenpark to the river on the west. The towers dominate in the south series of duplexes with gardens. In their extension, studios are built without such outside private areas and the space gained is then intended for public facilities. A second typology of buildings closes thesecomplexes on the south, and a high residential unit on the west.
