November 2018
Spectrum C olors for Fall/Winter 2018 express our need for individuality, ingenuity and creativity. There is a continued transition away from cyclical trends, and instead a strong focus on self-expressive colors that evade antiquated seasonal structure. As a result, we are seeing some very notable non-traditional choices . These unexpected shades reinvent the seasonal color story and allows for the artistry and originality that moves fashion forward. While mixing and combining unexpected colors can result in a signature style or look, we are also seeing colors for Fall/Winter 2018 similarly impactful standing alone. Moreso than in previous seasons, many of these hues are strong enough in their own right and are being used to make very specific color statements on their own. Combining classicism with colorful expression, in Spectrum this month we picked our top 5 favorite Pantone Fall/Winter 2018 colors. They feature a bold palette of autumnal hues complemented by some more unexpected shades.

Hemant & Nandita’s intelligence for business shows in how they run their operations. Considering that their clothes are available in places like the US, UK, Brazil, Egypt, Mexico, and Norway, its stunning to find out that their company is only between 200 and 500 employees. With retail outlets like Anthropologie, Neiman Marcus, Harvey Nichols, and Intermix, one assumes that their production would consist of a lot more workers. Instead, they have kept their company small so that every product they produce is of the utmost quality.
This is a rare quality in fashion designers, but it’s something that brings a sense of confidence when buying products, knowing that they have been thoughtfully made. In addition to the style, what makes these items so rich is the layering of colors and patterns, which creates a delight for the senses. Every garment produced is handmade and every detail is meticulously tended to. Maintaining a smaller company that devotes itself to quality makes this designer shine. Wanting to always produce items that each and every client can feel good about is sometimes what fashion comes down to.

Although she may be a bold and powerful designer, she also seems to have a playful aspect to her that shines in her designs. She uses her designs to direct attention to one aspect of the dress, but has the same design going the opposite way, drawing the eyes to another part of the item. How clever is that? And how rare is it to find a designer willing to take those types of playful risks for the sake of art.

he ancient Mayan people believed that we were an intrinsic part of the Universe. They knew that our emotions, body, and mind were all interconnected and need balance. With this guiding principle, they adopted a holistic and integrative ap-

In our modern world with constant technological advancements that have left us disconnected from ourselves and others, the need for this ancient wisdom may be more important than ever before. The migrations of 10 frequent-flyer flamingos are being tracked by satellite as part of a celebration of UAE wetlands conservation. The Abu Dhabi Birdathon will count the air miles racked up by the flying squad to help better understand their migration patterns and raise awareness about the Al Wathba Wetland Reserve, the place from which they are setting off. There are about 3,000 flamingos at the reserve, and the sea of pink is likely to increase when the migration season reaches its peak. They begin to migrate to the area from August and settle there until mid-February.
Rafflesia Arnoldii This rare flower is found in the rainforests of Indonesia. It can grow to be three feet across and weigh up to 15 pounds! This odor attracts insects that pollinate the plant. 184 Rare Luxury Living
