01 ENGINEERED WALK Yale School of Architecture Studio 1012b / Spring 2016 Bridgeport, CT In Collaboration with Wilson Carroll Critic: Keller Easterling Park Avenue of Bridgeport stretches about two miles from the Seaside Park and the University of Bridgeport on the coastline to the Sacred Heart University in the north. Situated between is a mainly residential area with numerous commercial and infrastructure pockets and under-utilized lots. Utilizing community involvement and minimal financial and infrastructural commitments from the government, we imagine the entirety of Park Avenue as the Painted Mile, where street becomes a public space through staged interventions and a sustained protocol.

02 YALE BUILDING PROJECT 2015 Yale School of Architecture Studio 1012b / Spring 2015 New Haven, CT Critics: Alan Organschi + Adam Hopfner In Collaboration with Paul Lorenz, Matthew Kabala et al Yale’s Vlock Building Project, unique among architecture schools, is an affordable housing and urban infill initiative that allows students to design and build a structure in an economically depressed neighborhood. Our team’s entry to this competition establishes the definition of the house as an agglomeration of systems and paraphernalia of dwelling. Such agglomeration activates spaces around it for relevant activities, each accommodated within a minimally required volume. The envelope then assumes the role of mediating between the internal activities of the dwelling and the external forces of the site. The plasticity of the envelope allows the building to be replicated virtually for any infill sites and to respond to

03 CENTER FOR ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES Yale School of Architecture Studio 1011a / Fall 2014 West River Park, New Haven, CT Critic: Brennan Buck The West River Park is divided by the highway into seemingly two opposite domains: a strip of the retail boxes on one side, and the idyllic natural landscape on the other, which in fact is a construct of man-made infrastructure. The Center for Environmental Studies on the West River of New Haven inquires into this perceived duality between the natural and man-made environments, and seeks to utilize the landscape as a learning ground. Immersed in the river, the building connects the banks as a bridge, accommodating recreational and research facilities. The sectional variations of the greater site generate building envelope, whose spatial and performative qualities rely on the seasonal and daily changes in the water.

EXHIBITION CITY OF SEVEN BILLION
Exhibition Assistant / Summer 2015 Plan B Architecture & Urbanism In Collaboration with Mengran Li, Andrew Ruff, Robert Cannavino et al In the summer of 2015, I collaborated on the fabrication of a 13-feet model of the Earth, the Sphere of the Unknown for the City of Seven Billion exhibition at the YSOA, directed by Joyce Hsiang and Bimal Mendis of Plan B A&U. Constituted of six stages, the exhibition presents the globe as one city, where boundaries are blurred, and every square inch has been transformed by the human activity. The City of Seven Billion exhibition, on view at the Yale Architecture Gallery (Fall’15) and subsequently at the Taubman School of Architecture (Spring’16), also includes stages of Figures & Ground, Urban Cores, Scenes from the Horizon, Drawing Set, and Models of the World. The Sphere of the Unknown consisted of eighty-four foam panels of four sizes, two Arctic caps, fourteen Styrene foam bases (“slices”), and the structure of metal rods and plywood bases. Fabricating the upper panels involved multiple tests on materials and methods; and several processes of CNC milling topo-information on foam blocks, coating them with resin and paint, embedding shipping routes and communication cables, applying with printed information of infrastructure, and assembling each panel onto the suspended frame of the sphere. The Sphere conveys information that concerns the extent of urbanization in a manner that is tangible and representative of what we know, but also what we do not: domains of the ocean floor unknown to us are left as dips on the surface.
