The Lost Horizon ++++ Academic Project | Individual work Eesti Maaülikool | Outdoor recreation planning and design | 13 Sep - 10 Jan Supervised by : Dr. Simon Bell & Dr. Martti Valdi + Exhibited in Tallinn Design Festival
The project investigates the role of Hillyscapes surrounding the Pühajärv and their relationship with Kettle holes, using various installations along the to reform everyday local recreational practices. The project proposed three typologies over the river, defining different relations between the water surface and the altitude, the Kettle holes, and the main lake. Urban Observatory, connected smoothly with the lake, defined by a set of trees and road signs, making the direction more clear, hosting the locals traditional gathering practice. Redirection Platform capsule, at the edge of the bridge, reforming the mental image, amplifying the human scale over the area, connecting the interventions.

Best Station Urban Rebirth ++++ Professional Experience | Group work Team: De Zwarte Hond and the Municipality of Best Client: Private Developer <2023> Supervised by : Bart van Leeuwen + Paulien van der Valk + Bastiaan Woudenberg Role : Urban Designer | Visual Designer | Model Fabrication In Best, a vibrant saga of urban renaissance unfolded as architects and planners wove a narrative entwined with diverse urban concepts. Densification became the focal theme, envisaging a diverse cityscape where various architectural styles harmonized within a mixed-use canvas. Residential dwellings seamlessly merged with cultural hotspots, sketching a lively milieu blending work, leisure, and communal life. Transit-oriented development formed the axis of this evolving tale, sketching pathways and open spaces around the bustling station precinct. Adaptive reuse breathed new vitality into the town, repurposing old structures to coexist with contemporary needs, preserving the architectural legacy while adapting to modern demands.
Amid this transformation, green spaces and pedestrian-friendly streets emerged as the vivid backdrop, painting a canvas of sustainability. This wasn’t just a narrative of city design; it was a story of community participation. The townsfolk actively contributed, their aspirations interwoven into the narrative’s fabric. At its core, sustainability guided the narrative, steering it towards a future of smart growth and eco-conscious infrastructure. This tale epitomized the synergy between urban design and community aspirations, scripting a new chapter in Best’s history. It was a vibrant, sustainable town celebrating its past while embracing a future molded by the dreams and values of its inhabitants.

Sleeping Beauty “Groningen-Assen Urbanisation Strategy” ++++ Research/ Vision Study | Group work De Zwarte Hond & Municapility of Groningen | 01 Jun - Present Client: Regio Groningen Assen, Ministerie van Binnenlandse Zaken & Koninkrijksrelaties Supervised by : Nynke Jutten + Keval Sakaria Role : Mapping | Research development | Data visuallization <2023>
In the story of Hoogezand-Sappemeer, a once-sleeping beauty, the town has experienced significant growth over the past few decades. However, this growth lacked investments in public spaces and overall quality of life, resulting in various challenges. These challenges include traffic congestion, climate adaptation issues, and an undesirable mix of residential areas and industrial sites. Now, the town aims to unlock its potential, particularly on the east side of the Groningen-Assen region, by creating a more vibrant and attrac-
tive urban area. The goal is not only to make up for past shortcomings but also to connect future developments with growth opportunities. By enhancing the quality of life, adding new facilities, and addressing challenges related to climate change and social issues, this project paints a comprehensive vision for the transformation of Hoogezand-Sappemeer into a thriving residential and commercial city, all while maximizing its existing qualities.

Vision of HS Landscape and Green areas
Vision of HS Energy
To achieve this vision, the project focuses on enriching the urban structure by breaking away from the city’s one-dimensional layout. By improving green and blue networks and pedestrian connections, the project intends to create more intersections, landmarks, and opportunities for new developments. In addition to focusing on housing and mixed-use development, the plan aims to make mobility more sustainable, strengthen the region’s economic profile, and promote climate adaptation efforts. With strategic projects such as revisiting Martenshoek, revitalizing the city center, enhancing the park surrounding Gorecht, and connecting the historic shipyard of Sappemeer, Hoogezand-Sappemeer is set on a path to becoming a flourishing and resilient urban center, ensuring a high quality of life for its residents and the broader community. Vision of HS mobility
Observation: There is no social network, people no longer meet outside their own circle and in Hoogezand everyone keeps to themselves.

The urban transformation project in Hoogezand-Sappemeer involves a phased approach to redevelop and revitalize the town. It begins with planning and assessment, creating a shared vision among stakeholders. Design and conceptualization follow, with the development of detailed architectural and urban plans. Focusing on improving the quality of life along the Kieldiep and Kerkstraat.Vitaal Stadshart in Hoogezand plan includes enhancing the pedestrian and cycling routes connecting Kieldiep and the Zuiderpark, creating walkable connections over the existing infrastructure (“over het lint”),
and introducing innovative traffic measures like a trial road closure in Kerkstraat near the railway. Additionally, the project envisions transforming the Kerkstraat into a more appealing street and proposes high-density housing, including groundbased homes and small-scale apartments, though existing environmental regulations may currently restrict new construction in the area.
