1973 年,台灣畫家李澤藩的畫作《奇萊山》,隱隱地解析了這種 深邃無比的綠;直覺地,我感覺這是任何一個台灣人都可感受的 綠色,是一種如母親般的綠。 I n 1973, Ta i wa n’s p a i n te r L e e Tze - Fa n’s p a i n t i n g“Q i l a i Mountain”faintly analyzed this deep and matchless kind of green. Intuitively, I feel that this is a green that any Taiwanese can feel. It is a kind of mother-like green.
從
合歡山松雪樓往東看,奇萊北峰向南延伸到主山的巨大山塊,氣勢 磅礡,日出之際,背光稜線下一片黝黑,日頭西行,嶙峋的崩崖無 法上色,形貌益顯猙獰,人們因此稱它為「黑色奇萊」。
然而,當你走上奇萊,立可發覺,「黑色」是一個不折不扣的人造產物;對 我來說,眼睛和皮膚,甚或氣味的嗅覺,感受到的是一種無邊際溫柔的綠。從 高可及人的小奇萊竹林中,那隱密的、陰翳的綠,到支稜陡上石瀑間遭遇的鐵 杉和冷杉,牠們蒼翠、崇高卻深情的綠,好不容易上了稜線,那綿延而去,開 闊的短箭竹大草原,潑灑的是一種金黃麥浪般的穀物綠,然而,當雲霧氣流湧 來,草原馬上披上薄紗,像是綠豆灑上了碎冰。
這兒是中央山脈的稜脊,數百萬年前,造山運動的擠壓,將平靜海底的砂岩 推上三千六百公尺高,迎擊向山巔的氣流(無論它是季風還是颱風)落下雨水, 往右切割出木瓜溪,造就了花蓮市集,往左則蜿蜒開鑿出濁水溪,沖積出西部 平原。山下的文明與溪水搓揉交融,台灣的近代史蓊蓊鬱鬱誕生了,但奇萊山 上的綠,則仍淡漠地高踞著。 1
登山者攀著繩索,一步步上行,可近距離看到碎片頁岩上的雲母,反射耀眼 光芒,但無處不在的綠,最終仍收服了這些零散的光。

這幾年來,台灣的設計產業隱隱騷動,然而,無一說得上是扣動國民心弦的 設計,像是日本的柳宗理或是丹麥的 Arne Jacobsen,能激發一種萬千人趨近認 同的情感渴望。
走下奇萊山徑的回程,陣風刷過松針,如浪濤般迴響在小奇萊草原上,我私 想:在巨大身體的疲勞與綠色的擁抱間,一定有些奇妙的事可發生,一百多年 前的印象派畫家早就以身試法過了,不是嗎?

As a black artist that rose to fame at the beginning of this century, Archibald Motley, who was born in New Orleans, is a major contributor to the Harlem Renaissance. This exhibition features his works that embody the theme of jazz culture. The artworks are vividly colored, highlighting the color coordination unique to black people. The figure compositions are also quite extraordinary. The paintings serve as a beautiful microcosm of the AfricanAmerican community life of the 1920s and 1930s. Archibald J. 「別人曬書,我曬畫。」走進一向被視作收藏家口袋與品味深度指標的施俊 兆,位於台中占地一層樓面的私人藝術「庫房」,環顧主人資歷長達二十 多年、數量豐富、驚人的藏品,施俊兆笑著說,瞄準中國第一代前輩畫家 的收藏觀點和手筆,是「責任」,也算是對「藝術風格」的一種守護吧! “Other people bask in books. I bask in paintings.” I walk into the private art“warehouse”in Taichung of Leo Shih, widely regarded as a man with a deep pocket and a rich taste, and look about at his lavish, stunning collection that spans a period of more than two decades. Shih smiles and says that collecting the paintings of China’s first generation of older painters is a“responsibility”, and that it can also be seen as guarding an“artistic style”!

One day, after having spent almost two decades on foreign shores, Yeh, the nostalgic perfectionist, suddenly returned to Hualien. When people asked him why he made the unexpected decision to come back, the artist spoke of “ God ’ s will, ” but also mentioned the Hollywood movie Forrest Gump: “There is this scene where Forrest has been running and running for some three years, with more and more people running in his trail. At one point, he simply stops in his track, turns around, and tells the people behind him, ‘I’m pretty tired. I think I’ll go home now.’ That pretty much describes my feelings at the time.” Upon his return to Taiwan in 2006, he

chose to make his home at the Hualien seaside, allowing him to engage in a daily dialogue with the ocean, while at the same time having the benefit of the mountainous scenery facing the water. His life is now relaxed and free from serious constraints: from his top-floor studio overlooking the blue waters of the vast Pacific, he can enjoy the unimpeded view of an everchanging horizon and wide skies, which probably explains why clouds and the sea have become two of his favorite motifs in recent years. As he progresses on his journey through life, Yeh continues to add new color and interest to his art.
