“Climb, Turn, Encounter”
Each group was given a task to design and build an element that acts as a Threshold. Ancient Tombs existed on an elevated platform, borderd by mountains from one side which was the given site. We had to relate our “Thresholds” to the existing natural elements. “Climb, Turn, Encounter”, This was our theme. During the Site analysis period we discovered that we were naturally inclined to climb the mountain in order to get a better view of the overall area. From this observation came the idea to create a viewing point or PLATFORM which elevates the viewer to give a broad view of the site. While experimenting in the studio it was discovered that even with a slight variation in height we already achieve a different perspective. The Platform consists of three levels at three different heights in order to facilitate the climb to the visitor. They are strategically arranged in such a way that when approaching the platform with your back to the site, you are progressively making a turn as you reach the highest point. At this point you are presented with the entirety of the site.

STAR-GAZING HOUSE Integrated Project I
“Form follows Function
The task was to design a Star-Gazing house for two students who sleep in the morning and work at night. The site is composed of three rocks of different sizes and two trees. The main concept was to create a structure that will act as the function, hence, Form follows Function. The whole structure is cantilivered and is sunk into the ground where the sleeping area is placed. The interior of the structure is a staircase that leads to cantilivered platforms that hold different functions according to the needs of the students.

INDIVIDUALITY Integrated Project II
A task was given to design student dormitories on a plot of 7000 sqm which should have a concept and a theme. After analysing the exisitng site and buildings, an idea was approached and that was to create a dependent free environment. A place where one can have their own personal space.
Each room is a single room which supports the idea of individuality and independency. The strips rest individually on the ground next to each other creating paths of different widths and lengths between the buildings. The whole structure was placed in a way to create a continues path that extends to the neighboring buildings.

Living there and between the spaces that the overall structure creates, one can experience enclosure and peace of mind from all the surrounding. Green carpets were implemented with large trees to provide shade in the outdoors. On these green carpets, seating elements were situated in a random manner to break the strict geometry of the overall structure. The individual can sit on the grass carpet and lean back on the seating elements. Thus, the feeling of support and enclosure. Figure Ground Plan Scale: 1:5000
