EXTEND YOURSELF ONE MAN’S ART

EXTEND YOURSELF AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS... Retrospection is as real as the moment gone, the time passed and the experience had, the hindsight of actions.
In retrospect we have oftentimes said, I would have, could have or should have. In retrospect sometimes we regret, and sometimes we smile. But this life we experience in blips of twos the moment and the memory. With the memory I dare suggest being the most poignant. For the memory offers a second chance, a revisit, and the possibility of reliving and if so inclined of recreating. The memory holds with it the power of change and the power of instruction. As the memory is really what stays with us, and not the moment. The bits and pieces of the experience that we cleverly choose to stow away so as to masterfully create for ourselves the image of things transpired.
And from this I now see the danger of retrospection as it is only as useful as the information it was fed. For even in retrospect the end result may be skewed, the lesson learnt from this now memory of an experience past is in itself flawed. Terribly manipulated by the desire to make it all feel good. Falsified to the point where the original hope of this pure experience becomes tainted and the bits that made the whole is actually indecipherable. Lost in the wispy nature of conflicted thought, this disconnected memory has in itself become the moment. A moment of quiet chaos that befits the irreproachable facet of retrospection but from which it can not benefit.

And as such we create our realities, our memories. A hodgepodge of our choices and the subsequent actions that may have followed. And with no compunction it becomes what was. It becomes a subject of retrospection. The lively mental banter who's sole purpose is to elucidate, and help the conscience decide if it can live with itself. Knowing full well that the image painted has been skewed and perverted to suit what feels agreeable.
