DISCOVER CHINO VALLEY TOURISM

The Office of Economic Development has launched the Town of Chino Valley’s first-ever tourism campaign in partnership with the Arizona Office of Tourism.

This cooperative program between the Arizona Office of Tourism and the Town was awarded in 2020 and consisted of a full branding campaign (website design, brand, logo and more), Google ads, TripAdvisor, geotargeted display ads, Visit Arizona marketing, rack cards, a Local First Arizona community profile page and two Lamar billboards in the Phoenix area.

The online campaign wrapped up with more than 1.4 million impressions!

The Town partnered with Mountain Mojo Group out of Flagstaff to create a brand kit, website and logo. The firm also offered its photography and videography services. In what took a year of creative engineering, discoverchinovalley.org was born. Don’t forget to check out the video with music toward the bottom of the home page. You can also find all upcoming events through the home page.

The Town’s economic development department hosted a community rural round table that invited about 30 stakeholders to get involved and talk about why they love Chino Valley. The Town loved it! We then partnered with Local First Arizona to create a community profile page. Visit localfirstaz.com/explore-az and click on Chino Valley to see the results.

Once the website was ready to launch, we were ready to hit the ground running on the remainder of the campaign.

Some of the slogans that came out of the campaign were “Come up and cool down” and “Cooler than you’d think.” Both were used on the billboards. Also, “Escape to wide open spaces.”

Chino Valley has the best off-roading in the quad cities and routes that will take you from Perkinsville Road to Jerome, Williams and Sedona. Tourism in the Town is primarily outdoor recreation, but we also have some amazing and unique restaurants, an amazing vineyard with wine tasting and weekend music, plus a great brewery!

Situated just northwest of Prescott and surrounded by high, sandy-colored Chino Gama grasses and rolling hills, Chino Valley is a place where people come to escape the big-city lifestyle and experience outdoor adventure, amazing restaurants, our local microbrewery, vineyard and more. From anywhere in Chino Valley, you can look up at the sky at night and see brilliant constellations. It’s not unusual to see locals riding out on horseback and off-roading down Perkinsville Road to explore the high desert. Many new residents and visitors ask themselves, “Can this place be real?”

Once the territorial capital of Arizona, Chino Valley was a temporary settlement that became a prosperous community of ranchers and farmers. These roots remain embedded in its culture and heritage.

This quiet, slow-paced community is a place where people learn how and love to relax. Surrounding hiking trails, swimming holes and secret spots that only locals know offer endless opportunities for any outdoor enthusiast. And you can’t talk about Chino Valley without mentioning the water – don’t forget your 5-gallon water jug to fill up with the freshest Arizona water you have ever tasted!

Chino Valley’s Strategic Position

Approximately 90 miles from both Phoenix and Flagstaff, Chino Valley straddles State Route 89 and is just 10 miles north of Prescott. Incorporated in 1970, it encompasses 63 square miles in the mountains of north-central Arizona at an elevation of 4,656 feet. It is just 30 minutes to Interstate 40 and 15 minutes to Drake Rail Service.

Western Way of Life

It’s no surprise that people are drawn to this down-toearth way of life. The population has grown to about 18,600 (in the 86323 area code) but it retains its rural tranquility and small-town charm. Don’t be surprised when driving through if locals wave at you. Affordable land and modern amenities make living in the area attractive. Prescott Valley and Prescott are becoming crowded, making Chino Valley the area’s best choice for young families and retirees. Hills, forests and big blue skies provide picturesque, serene surroundings. Wildlife is abundant and sustained by open land with access to mountains and clear water.

Recreational Activities

The proximity of the Town to Prescott National Forest and the Verde River means thousands of acres for hiking, biking, off-road vehicle use, swimming and hunting. Ranching is still alive and well in the region, evidenced by cattle roaming the wide-open spaces. The growing interest in horserelated events has supported the equestrian park that will eventually serve not just the community but the state and region. The Town also has a sports complex that is home to the Chino Valley Aquatic Center and baseball fields where most youth sports are played. Old Home Manor, located east of State Route 89, hosts a public shooting range, Chino Valley Model Aviators, Chino Valley Equestrian Park and baseball fields. There are several annual events, including the Chino Valley Grinder (mountain bike race), the Chino Valley Mud Run, Harvest Fest, Territorial Days, plus more in the planning stages.

Weather

Chino Valley enjoys comfortable temperatures throughout the seasons with over 300 days of sunshine. The rainy monsoon season, which begins in July and ends in early September, cools summer temperatures down to the 70s, leaving behind the smell of the desert in blossom.

Why Do Business in Chino Valley:

• Small towns are making a comeback! • Low cost of doing business/business-friendly regulation • Simplified state tax system – tax programs • Part of the “quad Cities” of Central Arizona • Old Home Manor Business Park • Outdoor activities and scenic attractions • Growing community = more opportunity

And businesses can now use the BNSF railroad out of Drake, north of Paulden. With the ability to transload at Drake Railroad, BNSF can now transport anywhere in the continental United States.

Along with a perfect four-season, mild climate, Chino Valley’s lack of natural and weather-related disasters such as earthquakes, hurricanes and blizzards makes the Town a convenient location for companies to operate.
